Just Bahraini does PayPal

31 Oct, '06

PayPal have finally added Bahrain to their list of international countries they do business with, so we finally can not only pay for goods and services on the Internet using their service, but can also set up our businesses on the Internet too!

As soon as I heard of this, I set up another account with them (I have a UK account with PayPal, but now I have also set up a bona fide Bahraini account too) which I have activated and followed all the required steps to be verified. Therefore, I am happy to say that the JustBahraini campaign can accept your donations directly through PayPal. [false alarm, sorry!]

So please give generously, we have passed the 50% mark already, but still need about BD 3,800 to reach the initial target of BD 8,500 (US$ 22,500 approx).

Thanks goes to everyone who contributed already in financial and moral terms.

Together we can work toward eradicating sectarianism in Bahrain.

Finally… someone thought of adding Bahrain to Paypal.

Just created my Business Account there. Now, we’re seriously in business 😉

  2. I don’t think you can accept payment with this account. As far as I know, Paypal users can use their Bahrain accounts to send only, but not to receive payments.

I have added it to my blog couple of weeks ago, but people couldn’t use it.

Couldn’t do any business yet 🙁

    Regards,
    Hassan Alkhuzaei

Hassan, why don’t you try to contribute $1 to just try it once and for all? I couldn’t obviously because I cannot pay myself (I tried!)

The blurb suggests that I CAN accept donations and I have set up the account specifically for that… the proof is in the pudding. I’ll even refund you the $1 when we meet!!

I have a uk paypal account, am used it for buying and selling stuff on ebay

yours should work fine, it takes about a week to get the money off your paypal account though

also they used to charge me 2.3% or so, if the ammount was less than £50

i’ll try sending you some cash, lets see if it works

  7. I have already done that and this is what I got:

  8. But still you can use your UK account to accept donations while people from Bahrain can use their Bahrain accounts to donate.

    bastards!

    thanks guys

unfortunately that UK account was limited due to my using it from Bahrain. They thought I was a fraudster as most of my transactions had a Bahraini IP address. I have been fighting them since 2003 and they still don’t believe me!

  11. 0110101 says:

    try moneybookers.com

  12. mahmood says:

have you tried moneybookers? I’m looking at their site now and they look legit. Do you have any experience with them?

  13. abood says:

tried them to buy skypeout credit…to be honest they were horribly confusing

    so many little loopholes
    use with caution 😛

  14. Yousif says:

Yes mahmood, Moneybookers.com is legit. I’ve used it in the UK. Don’t know whether they do Bahrain though…

  15. Wolfwood says:

Yeah, Moneybookers is legit, as is Alertpay (though their credit card payments aren’t working for now. My test transaction with them went through before it happened though)

  16. Anonymous says:

I just done with my first ebay transaction there! Woof! such a relief indeed. Finally we send money without money order kind of method.

  17. mahmood says:

the problem is they don’t allow you to receive money yet. That’s the pisser. Once they do, you will see an explosion of internet commerce taking over the island.

  18. Ammar says:

Is the credit card has to be from Bahraini bank?

am from saudi arabia and I want to ask if I can simply open an account in Bahrain.

  19. mahmood says:

To pay or to receive payments? The receipt part doesn’t work still, the payment part does but am unsure if the system actually checks the source of the card, but knowing how stiff PayPal are, they probably do. Better check with them though.

  21. Beebo says:

    ME TOO
I’m in Kuwait and I have a verified PayPal account and I tried to sell on eBay but once I sold the item the buyer told me the same message of death: “Currently PayPal accounts in Kuwait are only able to send payments. This recipient is not eligible to receive funds.”
How can we solve this problem??? I can only PAY!

  22. Lee Ann says:

Im having the same problem…my Paypal account wont accept money from anywhere far as I can tell. Anyway around this or anyone have a better solution.

  23. mahmood says:

I’ve looked at WorldPay before and it seems the best way to accept payments in this here parts at the moment.

hi. my wife excitedly launched her online business and made 2 sales recently on ebay! so we thought “woooohooo! our first sale!” … but we then found out that the buyer could not make a payment into my wife’s bahrain paypal account. she contacted ebay and all they could say was that she could not receive payments and that they would look into redesigning their system! it is so frustrating! why would there be a tab for “payments received” or “money request” on her ebay account if she can’t receive funds anyway! anyone else in the same situation? any thoughts on workarounds? thanks!
