Me and my bird!

Me and my bird!

Me and my bird!, originally uploaded by malyousif.

Hanan took this picture yesterday at lunch by the pool, with Filbert, obviously, now traditionally comes out with us and his mother comes down to feed him.

He also takes the opportunity to what seems like sharpening his beak and generally preen himself and muck around under our watchful eye.

I hope you are having a wonderful Friday my friends.. I’m off to bath the dogs and potter around in the garden…

A true Kodak Moment Mahmood, and I was just wondering what happened to your Friday gardening post tradition!

    Have a great weekend!

I spent most of the morning between Isa Town Local Market and various garden centres and a couple of other chores, so I didn’t have much of a chance to go out and do the usual Friday photography session.

    Next Friday hopefully.

Does Filbert love it when you scratch his ears?

Mahmood: You and Filbert are pathetically adorable together. I’m so happy to hear mom’s still around for him too. I was wondering about that.

Awwww, It almost makes me wish *I* had a bird! I guess I’ll have to get the scrub jays to trust me and take food out of my hand!

You’re as soppy over your bird as I am over my tortoises!

so so sweet! i’m thinking that maybe this is a female, but not sure. i see no signs of a ring around the neck… do you?

so the mother is still coming down? that’s so good to hear. how is she acting in front of you guys? is the father still being overly protective?

    this is a wonderful picture.

They say that it takes 18 months at least for the rings to start to appear. I’m not sure if this is correct but I need to look into it. Not that it matters, the little tyke is part of the family now :cheerful:

the only reason i was wondering is if it is a boy – they talk. the female’s don’t… but like you say, filbert is now part of the family.

ours are named oprah and stedman. stedman says things like “hey oprah” , “pretty bird”, “good boy” and such, and then sometimes will say the names of the cats if they’re in the same room. it’s really cute.

we have another little boy that FIL gave to us and i named him greeny… yeah, i know, so original! ;) he doesn’t talk as much and is a little shy.

hopefully as the baby gets bigger, i’ll be able to spend more time w/ them because that makes a lot of difference.

I’m hoping that Filbert is a Filbert and not a FilbertA! But we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m looking forward to teaching it some tricks!
