A Friday Slideshow wedding gift to good friends

This slideshow is particularly dedicated to my friends Haifaa Al-Mansour and Brad Neimann who had their wedding party last night in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It is without a doubt the best wedding party I have been to, suffice it to say that contrary to popular belief, women DO drive in Saudi, that is how Haifaa arrived at her wedding, in a golf cart bedecked with white roses and flowers driven by her with her bridesmaids piled up in the cart with her!

She was then led down the eisle by her father followed by a full Ardha band doing their things to be received by her husband Brad.

The whole thing was excellently arranged and choreographed. It was a mixed gathering (males and females were present in the same location) and a lot of happiness, chat and banter was the order of the night.

Frances and I wish you the best for your lives together and we hope that our paths will once again cross in benevolent circumstances.

Congratulations to the both of you and we love you.

Does this mean that an Arabic Muslim woman wed an infidel? What will the Muttawa say about it?

Good luck and best wishes to the happy couple, and thanks for the Friday slideshow. It was terrrific as usual; I’m thinking you are either going to own your own garden/landscaping business or will be working for National Geographics when you “retire” in your old age. In either case, I hope you keep posting pictures of your favorite things.

you mean the Aramco compound right? Been there, driven there, apparently illegally since I was visiting friends there and only women who live on the compound can drive, golf carts or the real thing! lol
How fun it is to go across the causeway and be able to go cross country without too much fuss. I know Saudi weddings can be quite the todo.. was it more western in that it was mixed? (I must ‘ ve been reading too fast..)
anyway, my husband will have to help me down load my gardening pics today as I want to show off my big zuchinis! How’s your gardening going??

No Ingrid it wasn’t the Aramco compound but the American Consulate in Dhahran. Regardless of the place though, with Haifaa’s coordination and design it would have looked and felt excellent!

We pray for a long, healthy and prosperous life together for the newlyweds!

Simply beautiful! Thank you for such a reasonable and measured look at life and all of it’s craziness.

    Peace.

Why are you making such a fuss about this wedding? Is it the best wedding ever because It “was a mixed gathering (males and females were present in the same location)”?!
    Get A LIFE!!
