All coral life, be it small or big are important to Bahrain and rest of the world.

I agree that progress needs to be made and developments, like Business Bay and others,
are important for Bahrain. Many times, our eco-system pays the price.

We should in reality, develop more artificial
reefs. In this case, duplicate the exact size
of removed Fasht somewhere else. I’m not a
marine biologist, but I wonder if many corals
can be ‘moved’ to other locations? Most probably they would die form being uprooted. However, coral ife could possibly regenerate faster on older Fasht.

As a Bahraini and living on an island, with beauitful weather, I just wish that I could take my kids to a decent beach to swim and play in the sand, without having to watch out for tar, broken glass, aluminium cans, and other garbage. Sure, I can pay 600 BD’s in memebership to some fine hotel or club just to enjoy the luxury of a man-made beach.. But.. WHY SHOULD I??? I used to drive down to south of the island to enjoy the clear waters and smooth sandy beaches around Ras-Al-Burr, that is blocked now because of the resort being built. Before we talk about protecting the envoirnment and saving the coral reefs, should’nt we be sorting out the beach in Zallaq??? Any ideas of other beaches in this country?

Hmmm, I think it’s all the dumped sand that is blocking the water flow!!!

Mahmood, I agree.
Any entity wishing to remove any matter of nature should only be granted approval if and only if the removed matter is of little or no environmental impact and the entity pledges to replace the same.

Committee chairman Abdulmajeed Al Sebea’a said the removal would not harm the marine environment and “on the contrary it would benefit from it.”

Can someone explain how the environment will benefit from removing coral reefs from the ocean?
