Welcome

Bahrain was famed throughout its history for its palm groves so much that is was – at one point – said to be called “The Land of the Million Palms”; sadly, this is no longer true due to various reasons the most important of which is the tremendous growth this country has experienced through urban projects, just like every other country on Earth.

Within and around the modern concrete jungles, we are fortunate to have some plots which have been developed as public gardens and the gardening scene in general is thriving, judging by the number and diversity of the available commercial garden centres.

Even with all of that, the “green” gardener still doesn’t know what to grow and what does grow in this harsh environment. This site is created to share knowledge gained by many gardeners in Bahrain in order to make the gardening activity more rewarding and easier to get into. Through this site, we will attempt to remove the “black magic” surrounding successful gardening.

Needless to say, this site will only succeed with your support. So if you do have any information you can share, please do. There are several ways to do so: enter a comment, correct a mistake or contact me with information. Your name will happily appear on any contribution you make.

Thank you for your support and we wish you very happy and peaceful gardening.
