Vicious thorns, little flower, true. But both create a wonderful sight. I love Euphorbia millis.

Happy National Day!

Happy National Day all Bahrainis (even if it’s a little late). I love the lights all around Manama. It gives me such a good feeling.

I look forward to the fireworks, always have. Does anyone know why there are no fireworks, or even a National Day Parade this year?

In the past there has usually been a big parade ending at the National Stadium complete with a fly past of F16s (or whatever the BDF have) and helicopters with flags. This year . . . nothing.
Any clues as to why? Could it be that a few months ago the King was ill and so no one made the decision? I’m intrigued.

I hope you all enjoyed the break. Happy National Day and Eid mubarrak. Next stop, Christmas.

    Cheers
    I

I remember seeing the tender inviting bids for the laser show and the fireworks in the papers a few months ago. In fact, searching through the Tender Board I see that this tender was closed on 31 Oct but I see no record of it being awarded.

Maybe it’s simply a case of no budget or some sort of screw-up rather than anything else? After all, it was tendered by the Ministry of Information and we all know how efficient that Ministry is!
