Your example of lack of speech in the US is a poor one. That young man that you refer to actually “asked” for the stun gun to be used against him. Did he not plan it? Did he not set up his camera and bring in his friend to film him? He was after the publicity. Obviously, he could not be allowed in the way of free speech.

I am surprised that you would not kneel before a country that saved your fellow Muslims from certain genocide. You seem to be a keen Muslim. Aren’t Muslims supposed to care for each other? You amaze me. You prefer to sit in your comfortable chair and see your own people die? You would not even allow another country to step in?

I do not know about your religion but this does not seem to me to be what humanity is all about!

Customs officials are trained to be brusque – they have to be, hundreds of people passing through every day, and any one of them could be carrying illegal foodstuffs or trying to get around the Taxman.

On the other hand, the Saudi customs guards get to destroy things like crosses and Bibles with religious fervor – like they enjoy it or something.

I haven’t heard of any issues with GCC people traveling through Saudi. Except of course the unavoidable exposure to our customs officials cheerful disposition. ( though I am convinced this is a universal phenomenon and that there is a genetic screening process that takes place in most countries when hiring customs officials to ensure that any happy, friendly, chatty, smiley genes are not present in the potential candidates)

How difficult is it for any foreigner to enter (and exit) Saudi? How would you go about getting a visit or business visa to get in?

I’m also including Gulf Nationals here as they too are regarded foreigners by the Saudi government.

After 9/11, the racism Arabs & Muslims received throughout America is not something negligible. But you could then blame the people for having the racist views. Or you could blame the government itself for growing fear into the American people and sowing hatred in them towards the Arabs & Muslims.

For the record, I felt completely at home in both Washington DC and New York. The airport customs were a doddle both going in and coming out with hardly a minute before getting our passports stamped and bid off with a smile and a welcome and thank you.

We made it a point to spend some time at the site of Ground Zero and paid our respects. Throughout the morning we were there amongst hundreds of people coming and going, not once were we made feel uncomfortable.

This is the same experience we had everywhere else we went in both cities.

The Koran in its original Arabic is unintelligible to everyone, even scholars of classical Arabic. That’s why it requires such a large amount of hadith to interpret it. If you want to understand what the Koran is saying, you can read the original form of the passages that Mohammed plagiarized by reading the Bible, Torah, and what holy books there are of Zoroastrianism. It’s all there. Much of what Mohammed repeated in the Koran he garbled or got wrong or misunderstood. Ibn Warraq lays all this out in his book, “Why I Am Not A Muslim.”

In fact, the Koran in many places is written in ungrammatical Arabic. That’s pretty odd for a supposedly perfect book written by a supposedly perfect being. And the violent verses of the Koran are many and unambiguous.

War is a money loser for any country that fights. Countries only make profits in peacetime. The idea that the war profiteers drive the country to war is socialist propaganda from WWI which has been debunked as false. In fact, these companies jump to the government’s tune. The idea that these guys tell the government what to do is ridiculous, unless you have a cartoon conspiracy view of the world.

And health and life insurance companies make money in peacetime when risk is low, not in wartime when risk is high. You see, Salman, if you’re an insurance company, you only make money when you’re not paying out claims. You see how that works? If you’re an insurance company, you want people to live forever without a scratch so they can keep paying premiums for risks that never materialize.

Other than oil, you have nothing of value. You don’t create anything. You don’t write anything. You don’t do anything that makes the world a better place. You, in typical Arab fashion, have it backwards. The heckler was trying to interrupt the free speech of the speaker. He wasn’t asking questions but shouting accusations and would not let the meeting continue. Free speech means you let the speaker talk. It doesn’t mean that any radical can close down a meeting with wild behavior.

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you can yell “Fire” in a crowded theater, where the ensuing panic would harm or kill people. Nor does freedom of speech mean that you can slander people, such as falsely claiming your husband is a child molester so as to gain custody of the children in a divorce; or falsely claiming that the product of your business competitor has killed its customers.

I understand that you have little experience with freedom of speech and consequently don’t understand the responsibility which comes with it.

Salman: “Islam gives us freedom of speech. It praises criticism of what is wrong and for us to stand against it.”

That’s the biggest load of crap you have ever laid on this website. Islam requires you to submit and tolerates no criticism. Mohammend killed his critics and laughed at their deaths. Today, Muslims kill and burn and riot in the streets the world around over critical cartoons in Denmark. It is precisely this Islamic intolerance to free speech which has made the Muslim world trail the progress of the civilized world.

The governments of Muslim countries are an expression of their people. It is no accident that most Muslim countries are authoritarian thug states. That’s the only kind of organization most Muslims know or understand.

The idea that Islam is complete in all things is pure nonsense. If that were so, why is the Muslim world behind most of the world and especially the West in virtually every dimension of progress. Islam is a loser’s religion, it’s adherents constantly whining about everyone else and claiming to be victims.

And all of us here in America got a complete understanding of Islam’s teachings on Sep 11. For those who slept through that day, Muslims held additional lessons on the London Tube, the Madrid trains, the trains of Bombay, and so on. It’s hard to misinterpret a snuff video where a Muslim is sawing off a victim’s head and shouting Allah Akbar. What a shameful, backward, bloodthirsty, barbarian religion.
