Barack is a TERRORIST!

Barack is a TERRORIST!

Barack is a TERRORIST!, originally uploaded by malyousif.

We happened across this woman protesting in front of a Starbucks cafe yesterday morning. Her message is interesting; she contends that:

“Barack Hussein promised “change.”

What type of change?

Black Supremacy.

This is worse than September 11, 2001. Black Panther Islam unite to destroy whites & those who side with whites!

Obama is a TERRORIST.”

I don’t agree with her views, but having the opportunity for a lone protestor not to have to get an approval from a government agency which must be presented with five signatories who reside in the area she wishes to protest and having to do so at least 72 hours before the event and is contingent on many other factors is very refreshing.

Nothing charged me up, ever, like being on this trip to Washington, DC and New York (particularly). I am convinced that the more of us Arabs visit this great country and others like it who espouse the values of democracy, the faster we too will adopt them.

It is very hard to explain democracy to people who never experienced it. They will never appreciate it and will almost always revert back to rhetoric that “our way is better”.

Mahmood, i partially agree with you… however, demonstrating in Bahrain mostly includes burning tires and jeopardizing others safety…

before we try to adopt the American way! we need our ppl to realize the actual meaning of democracy and freedom of expression…

it will take the bahraini society sometime for that to happen… & for our safety we do still need those precautions…

    enjoy your stay…
    cheers!

@NewMe: who can blame the unemployed youth that are discriminated against and opressed from expressing themselves for turning angry and violent!

you think the american civil rights movement was all silent and peaceful with no blood? may I remind you that the freedom and democracy the americans have now is the product of a bloody civil war between americans themselves!

no one wants a cycle of violence yet I loathe people who from their cushy chairs look down upon the opressed people in the street and see them as unintelligent evil maniacs who pursue destruction and discord for the sake of discord. these people who are burning and shouting are angry becuse they want what americans and all poeple wnat: justice, freedom, and basic human rights. They know what democracy is and they know what they want.

Bahrain is a pioneer in democracy from within in the middle east because Bahrainis have been fighting for it unlike other countries in the gulf. and when democracy eventually comes you my dear sir will have the freedom to take credit for brining democracy to bahrain by sitting on your cushy chair and spitting on the stupid people of bahrain who dont know what democracy is unlike your intelligent excellency.

demonstrating in Bahrain mostly includes burning tires and jeopardizing others safety…

first, it is untrue that MOST bahraini demonstrations are violent because if you were living in bahrain and following the news you will see that all the protests are peaceful when the riot police is not present and sometimes even when the police are there they end in peace just like they started. you can do a count from 1999 for yourself.

secondly, who is “jeopardizing others safety”? bahrainis themselves or the riot police mercenaries from the deserts of syria, jordan, yemen , pakistan and recently war torn Iraq? Who is more dangerous, Bahrainis calling for their basic human rights or syrian bedouins shooting tear gas bombs at people’s homes and breaking their cars, doors and windows?

maybe you my dear sir need to visit america and the human rights organisations there to learn more about bahrain?

  5. aha

@Robert: Obama made it clear in one of the debates that he rejects Farrakhans support and anti-semetic statments. Obama is a deeply religious christian.

the use of “Hussain” just shows that it is a play on americans fears.

“nation of islam” is far from the ideals of islam and it was born on the white devil idea. Famously its once popular lead figure Malcom X left the so called nation of islam when he went to Hajj and saw that there also exists white muslims with blue eyes and blond hair and that all races are united and equal under God.

  6. Robert

@Aha: I understand, I was just trying to help Tanya who asked:

I don’t understand what message she is trying to convey with this info? Care to explain it a bit better

I think this woman with the sign is a bit of a kook, but I assume the Farrakhan flap has something to do with her twisted views.

  7. steve the american

For what it’s worth, there are plenty of unhinged protestors like this woman at every demonstration. However, this is the first time I’ve seen one target anyone to the Left. Usually, they’re targeting the Republicans or toting Bush’s head around on a stick or spouting Truther gibberish. Here’s an example of the typical protestors in a DC demonstration.

Free speech brings some strange critters out from under the rocks. Mahmood, feel free to take her home to Bahrain with you, if you like.

  8. urafool

this woman is probably a crackhead. some wise Obama hater probably gave her 5 bucks to carry around that sign.

  9. Jett

Just kidding about the photoshop thing..I know you love Apple’s and all their gizmos.

    Back to the pic..

Giving someone the chance to voice their own opinion, be it good or bad, is a privilege and what freedom is all about. The choice to have that sign out in public is your freedom. Voicing that opinion about Barack is this womans freedom. My freedom is to walk right by and plunk down $4.00 for a cup of coffee.

Taking freedoms away from those that have them is a sure way to a fight. Hopefully more people from the middle east get a chance to come here and experience the real america and not just the one they see on tv.

  10. Steve the American

Unfortunately, most of the ones who come are already sold on America. Most of the ones who stay home are not. Hidden among the ones who come are some here to do us evil.

  11. Ethan

    Sold on America, Steve? Hardly.

For every Mahmood, there are many who seem superficially like him, yet do not want to see the ideals of democratic rule exported. They want to retain their power base in the ME, and use the West for a vacation spot away from their own rules.

Well, that is until their ideological spawn overthrow the governments of Europe.

What the ME needs are more voices like Mahmood and others who are willing to say that they support liberal democracy and civil society. These voices have to overpower the mullahs and imams and dictators who preach to retain their own stranglehold on the population.

The future of the Middle East is found in their children. They have more per capita than any other nation on the planet.

May they be exposed to the freedom of mind, thought and deed guaranteed by Divine Providence and choose it rather than choose blind submission to the will of the beards and their books.

  12. 1

be careful mahmood, saying we need to visit US and learn from their democracy and saying this to the bunch of people we got here in Bahrain is one-way path to unleashing a huge backlash on you and your blog. unfortunately this is the case. There are more of ‘them’ and less of ‘you’ and it will take generations for the majority of this region to appreciate the US.. not sure how Obama will do it (or Hillary for that matter considering she got Ohio AND Texas yesterday) but one day less of the current president is always good news to me 🙂

  13. Merlin

Be very careful in making such statements, having discovered DC and NY is one thing, but maybe you want to try visiting the less glamorous corners of the US and then ask whether those people think its worth it?

  14. Loki

Merlin – my thoughts exactly. I’m all for Democracy and the rest of it but I certainly wouldn’t model it on the US.

Back to the topic. If Obama is a terrorist so is Clinton (granted maybe one shouldn’t take placards held by mentally questionable people seriously). To my mind, the total domination of two parties means that in terms policy making there isn’t a huge a difference. The same lobbies and interest groups will be working their magic. The same corporations will be buying influence. The only blue lining is that at least it won’t be Dubya. Good for the American people and the rest of the world!

  15. Butterfly

I am not anti-American and I don’t encourage or support violent demonstration but I really hate it when people talk about American democracy and Human Rights Laws as if it is the ideal and the best.

It pisses me off because all what happened in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo is not a democracy. Before they teach us democracy they should first clean their own house!

How can you be sure that she was paid to carry that sign? Could she be a person who believes in what she’s protesting about and being brave enough to do so? Even a little? Or has stereotyping just get the better of you?

How about not attacking the person but trying to understand her point of view and if you’re convinced that the message is wrong, why not share yours rather than belittling others?

I agree that democracy is never perfect; however, note that this happens on a daily basis in all of our beloved Arab and Muslim nations, so while I agree some anger must be directed at the USA for it to fix its ways, I invite you wholeheartedly to show your chagrin to our Arab governments too who deserve much more of your wrath than the Americans.

I invite you to carry a placard with your objections and stand in front of a local Starbucks in Seef.

Let me know beforehand so that I can come and take your picture being dragged forcibly by our human rights respecting policemen and women to disappear in a black hole not to be heard from for a long time.

While the American system might not be the best there is, it’s the best we’ve got.

  19. Nine

    Mahmood,

Do I deduct some softening in your attitudes towards America following your visit? This is all positive though.

As for your challenge to Butterfly well I do not think she is brave enough to take it.

    Butterfly,
Your attack on America’s democracy is misguided. You are “pissed off” because of Abu Ghraib but then this has nothing to do with democracy. Democracy basically means the rule of the people. This does not necessarily mean being good to others.

In any case, Abu Gharib was neither instigated by the American people nor they supported it. It was not even ordered by the American government.

It was carried out by few individuals who chose to break the rules. It was exposed by Americans and the people behind it were put in trial in America. Some of them are still serving time in American jails. This in itself should show you how beautiful America’s democracy is, that is if only you were to open your eyes.

If you read a little into Obama´s background it is understandable that people would be concerned about his true colours being other than what he is showing.

His father was a muslim though Barack claims now to be a christian . In which case to certain muslim eyes he´s an apostate worthy of death , so maybe not a good start for international relations should he become president I think ?

The other point is that the church he attends seems to be astonishingly pro black to the extent that it would appear rascist and anti white. If Barack follows a lot of the views it espouses than the concern could be for race relations in the states.

Thirdly some of the views he has such as being radically pro abortion ( I don´t call it pro choice because obviously the baby is not given a choice on this !!) seem to contradict his christian faith.

This woman is quite possibly a believing christian stating quite honestly that she doesn´t buy his story and he can´t buy her vote !! hense “not for sale” obviously barack appeals to blacks and I would suggest that some would vote for him just because :-

    1. He´s part Black and
    2. He´s promising them world.

    gotta be good or ?

Obviously not to for some as this womans protest shows. Her concerns are held by a substantial number of black and white americans though up til now political correctness I believe prevents many from voicing their true thoughts.

The difference here is that this woman is a courageous example of someone speaking out despite the cost it could be to herself. Such as being ostracised by her own black community.

Democracy is built on judeo -christian values. Check out the sermon on the mount if you want to learn about live and let live values..The problem with those that have not understood democracy is they have never understood the essense of the christian faith buried with it. The mentality of democracy is mind boggling to those that have never been allowed to experience it. How can it make sense to allow people the freedom to disagree with not only those in authority over them but even God Himself.

Jesus proved that he was willing to die for our freedom to choose his way or our own way and ultimately democracy is in danger of doing the same if fascists and religious fundamentalists have their way in destroying the very thing that can truly set them free.

Umm, I think you’ll find pockets of Europe like Holland or Scandinavian countries have it freer. I’ve seen footage of an American being tased for asking questions too loudly at public gatherings.

Democracy is built on judeo -christian values.

No. It is primarily Hellenic. The world’s oldest parliament also partakes of Saxon values.

OK, Jesus did say that in the eyes of God all men are equal (so the King James bible tells us), but then he kinda disregards that with the “Render unto Caesar” nonsense, which is basically a recommendation to accept worldly injustice while waiting for a perfect afterlife. Luckily, those who first struggled to implement a democratic system were made of sterner stuff.

Jesus was a parish demagogue in an occupied theocracy. It was the occupiers who transmitted the concepts of quorums, voting, etc.

Judaism, Islam, and to a milder extent Christianity, do not confer equal human dignity upon those who do not share the core beliefs. Hardly democratic.

  25. Lynn

‘His father was a muslim though Barack claims now to be a christian’

Actually, as I understand from Sen. Obama’s statements. His father was born in Kenya to a nominally muslim family. I believe that his grandfather converted to chritianity at some point and then back to Islam and his father was basically agnostic. But, Obama wasn’t raised by that family as his father died when Barak was very young. He was mainly raised by his white grandparents in Hawaii.

Which is no excuse to take a hammer to your neighbor’s car, burn down the grocery store down the street, or otherwise wreck your own neighborhood. You have to live in it.

The Black Panther movement was founded decades ago for the purpose of civil rights development. It had a reputation for violence, well earned. It eventually faded away. I’m surprised this lone lady is still referring to it.

  27. Barry

    Victoria:

“Democracy is built on judeo -christian values.”

Funny, because it was a pre-christian Greek idea.

    Encyclopedia Britannica:

Democracy – literally, rule by the people. The term is derived from the Greek demokratia, which was coined from demos (“people”) and kratos (“rule”) in the middle of the 5th century BC to denote the political systems then existing in some Greek city-states, notably Athens.

Representative democracy did get its start in England, but upon the demands of followers of puritanism to have greater representation:

Until the 17th century, democratic theorists and political leaders largely ignored the possibility that a legislature might consist neither of the entire body of citizens, as in Greece and Rome, nor of representatives chosen by and from a tiny oligarchy or hereditary aristocracy, as in the Italian republics. An important break in the prevailing orthodoxy occurred during and after the English Civil Wars (1642–51), when the Levelers and other radical followers of Puritanism demanded broader representation in Parliament, expanded powers for Parliament’s lower house, the House of Commons, and universal manhood suffrage (see below England). As with many political innovations, representative government resulted less from philosophical speculation than from a search for practical solutions to a fairly self-evident problem. Nevertheless, the complete assimilation of representation into the theory and practice of democracy was still more than a century away.

However, the idea of “rule by the people” is not new, and neither is it based in Judeo-Christian values, as the idea predates Christ by 500 about years.

  28. steve the american

Victoria: “Democracy is built on judeo -christian values. Check out the sermon on the mount if you want to learn about live and let live values.”

Not persuasive. Democracy predates Jesus Christ by half a millenium. Jesus also made a point of separating religion and government, “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar and unto God what is God’s.” Christianity and democracy are separate constructs. I also doubt the Jews had any influence on the Athenian Greeks who developed a viable first form of democracy. The Greeks had distinctly Greek values.

Also, the Catholic Church is an authoritarian organization, not a democratic one. What the Pope says is doctrine. The Catholic Church does not make doctrine by popular vote.

ammaro: “thats clever. give a homeless person $10 and tell them to carry a sign for a day or two.”

I can assure you that in America our crazy street people work for free.

Mahmood: “While the American system might not be the best there is, it’s the best we’ve got.”

Now you are on the side of the angels, Mahmood.

Butterfly: “It pisses me off because all what happened in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo is not a democracy. Before they teach us democracy they should first clean their own house!’

In Abu Ghraib, the night shift hazed prisoners. The leadership learned of it, investigated it, and punished the offenders before the world ever learned of it. That’s how a democracy cleans it’s own house. Butterly, please provide an example where an Arab government took similar action to clean its house. Your hypocrisy is stunning.

When you get done looking in vain for that, I invite you to look in vain for Arab prisons which match the model prison at Gitmo. European prison inspectors say that it is better than prisons in Europe. The Red Cross has representatives permanently stationed there, the press regularly visits, as do congressman, and the prisoners have lawyers. Please provide examples of Arab prisons which are as transparent as Gitmo. Or of Arab prisons where the prisoners gain weight, as at Gitmo. Why do you think Gitmo prisoners fear being returned to prisons in their home countries?

The only point you’ve made with your screed is to demonstrate how biased your sources of information are. As long as you rely on them to misinform you, you will always be inferior in debate to Westerners educated by a free press.

Butterfly: “… and this is a special note to Steve the American, please save me your comments, I am sure that you are a loyal american.

Butterfly, you shouldn’t pin a target on yourself like that. You should know that nobody is spared my comments. However, we can agree that I am a loyal American. So you did get something right in your post.

Salman: ” just hope they don’t assassinate the fellow just so that they never have a president who is not white.”

We have plenty of high officials who are black. Obama would just be one more. And really, it’s pretty foolish for somebody from the racist Middle East to be calling America racist. You still hold blacks as slaves there, both formally and informally.

Anonny: “Umm, I think you’ll find pockets of Europe like Holland or Scandinavian countries have it freer. I’ve seen footage of an American being tased for asking questions too loudly at public gatherings.”

Would that be the same Netherlands that is afraid to show a movie critical of Islam for fear the Muslims will kill more of its citizens? The heckler who was tased was trying to disrupt a meeting and wouldn’t stop. You folks see everything in America through a wacky distorted funhouse mirror.

  29. Mike

Obama or Hillary, landslide victory for McCain in November. Reason? Americans still chose the US president, not world opinion.

  30. Salman

    Steve,

America fears having black supremacy, even thought thats not what Barack’s goal is. But how is it OK to have white supremacy?

After 9/11, the racism Arabs & Muslims received throughout America is not something negligible. But you could then blame the people for having the racist views. Or you could blame the government itself for growing fear into the American people and sowing hatred in them towards the Arabs & Muslims.

I wonder if you could dare say, the American public were stupid enough to actually fall into the trap?

Why does America just want to wage war against everyone? Wherever there is a war, 9/10 times, America has something to do with it.

It benefits off the suffering & killing of many people, Americans & non-Americans. The worst thing is, those who benefit, are a group of people only.

So, are you, Steve, a supporter of war, murder & suffering?

  31. Steve the American

Salman: “America fears having black supremacy, even thought thats not what Barack’s goal is. But how is it OK to have white supremacy?”

Actually, we don’t believe in either, despite the propaganda you’re feeding on in the Arab Muslim world and regurgitating here. And if we feared black supremacy, why is Obama getting so many votes, genius?

Salman: “After 9/11, the racism Arabs & Muslims received throughout America is not something negligible. But you could then blame the people for having the racist views. Or you could blame the government itself for growing fear into the American people and sowing hatred in them towards the Arabs & Muslims.”

So your argument is that Arab Muslims slaughtering people en masse for their religion on Sep 11 is not the reason why Americans have a bad image of Arab Muslims, but rather because Americans are simply racist? And the subsequent train bombings by Muslims, bombings, beheadings, disembowelings, and snuff videos did not inspire hate toward Muslims, but rather it was simple racism?

It’s a pretty stupid theory, to claim that the Muslim jihad against the world, in other words their actual behavior, is not to blame for the bad reputation of Muslims, but rather that the world is just racist for inexplicable reasons. However, I imagine a stupid theory like that works well for Muslims, who are indoctrinated to hate all other religions. Naturally, when you are taught such a twisted view of the world, you would think the rest of the world thinks the same way. But we don’t. The rest of the world is better than that.

Salman: “I wonder if you could dare say, the American public were stupid enough to actually fall into the trap?”

I wonder if you’re stupid enough to believe what you’re saying.

Salman: “Why does America just want to wage war against everyone? Wherever there is a war, 9/10 times, America has something to do with it.”

Actually, of all the wars in the world at present, we are thankfully only involved in a tiny fraction. Those few were prompted by the Muslim attacks on Sep 11 and Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait and continued aggression after. By contrast, most of the wars in the world currently are caused by Muslims seeking to impose Islam on their patrons and neighbors through violence. Where ever Muslims go they make war on their neighbors and patrons.

Were it not for Muslim aggression the world would be a much more peaceful place.

Salman: “It benefits off the suffering & killing of many people, Americans & non-Americans. The worst thing is, those who benefit, are a group of people only.”

Ah, yes, a “group of people,” the Muslim code world for Jews. I have nothing but contempt for your Neanderthal religious hatred. And look what Jew-hating had done for you, made your religion a Pariah among religions.

Salman: “So, are you, Steve, a supporter of war, murder & suffering?”

No, I don’t believe I should fight all men until the whole world is Islam, if that’s what you’re asking. I don’t believe that I should lay in ambush for infidels and behead them, like the Verse of the Sword tells you. I reject the evil example of Mohammed robbing the camel caravans of his religious rivals which has led to Muslims skyjacking jumbo jets. I reject the example of Mohammed mass-beheading his religious rivals in public, like the Quraysh tribe, which has led to Zarqawi et al making snuff videos of beheadings of non-Muslims to the cheers of fellow Muslims. I reject the assassination of critics of Islam as Mohammed did, which leads to the riots, burning, and murder by Muslims over Danish cartoons.

So, to answer your question, I do not support war, murder & suffering as you Muslims do in your 1300 year old jihad.

What I do believe in is free speech, that you should have the freedom to speak your mind, to criticize anything, to promote anything, within reasonable bounds. You should have the affiliated freedom to follow any religion you please or none at all. I believe in democracy, that you should choose your own leadership, and that laws should be based on the will of the people expressed through their elected representatives. In short, I believe that government should protect the people’s life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

Because I believe in all these things, that makes me an enemy of Islam, at least in Muslim eyes.

  32. Nine

    Steve,

Do not expect Butterfly to come back to you anytime soon. She is yet to respond to me. As you said it, her hypocrisy is stunning.

As for Salman well he is as irrational as ever. Rather than being unreasonably critical of America he should kneel in front of her for saving his fellow Muslims in Kosovo.

  33. Salman

Steve, before you go and blame a religion for the actions of a few, have you read the Quran yourself to confirm the validity of your accusations? Can you even read it in its original text so that you may understand what it actually says, and not an English translation which might not even be accurate?

You underestimate the depth, beauty and eloquence of the Arabic language. Thats the reason why the meanings of each word are lost in translation.

You are as ignorant as you are arrogant.

I await to see Obama in power, if it ever happens. And lets see how many in Congress will be happy when he pulls out of every war good old patriot Bush has put you in.

I expect none, as no war to them means no income for a lot of companies. Think food supplies, medical, transport, military equipment, clothing, shelter and the list goes on and on, and on. Oh, and lets not forget health and life insurance as well.

Do not worry Steve, we want nothing from your country. It seems that you want more from us, than you think we want from you.

If freedom of speech actually existed in the USA, we would have never seen a video of a young man being controlled with a stun-gun for asking a Kerry a question about the Iraq War. Where is the freedom of speech that you speak of and always proudly proclaim to have?

Freedom of speech has no limits, and should have no limits. Why is it freedom, if it has “reasonable limits”?

Islam gives us freedom of speech. It praises criticism of what is wrong and for us to stand against it. But it is our oppressing governments that have taken away this basic human right. Islam is complete in every single way, shape and form. It is those who do not understand it, or are ignorant of its teachings, that criticize it or misinterpret it. Like you for instance.

    As for Nine,

I kneel before no one, and I do not think that America has ever gone to war for the good of anyone but itself. Every empire works the same way, expansion and increase in power.

If voting to go to war to “save people” will make me a shit load of cash, then why not go to war? Its not me who is fighting it. I am not sending my own children to war. Heck, I will sit here in my comfortable chair, and enjoy the luxuries of life, and make money of the “people saving” war while young men and women go and put their lives on the line so that I can make lots of cash. Send them! Send all of them! Invade every country in existence and make up any excuse, as long as I will make money off the war, its fine. You have my 1st vote.

  34. Jett

    Salman

Salman..as an arab let me just say..you are a jackass. No..no..seriously..you are. Check the mirror fool. I have been in lines at more airports around this country and not once did I feel singled out or been scrutinized more than anyone else. Just because you are so insecure in your own self you don’t need to go throwing your rhetoric around ..wait..how long is your beard? The old turban wound a little tight?

Maybe you should get out and see a bit of the world before spouting off. But..again..having a sense of reality really doesn’t help you ..does it?

  35. Steve the American

Salman: “Steve, before you go and blame a religion for the actions of a few, have you read the Quran yourself to confirm the validity of your accusations? Can you even read it in its original text so that you may understand what it actually says, and not an English translation which might not even be accurate?”

The Koran in its original Arabic is unintelligible to everyone, even scholars of classical Arabic. That’s why it requires such a large amount of hadith to interpret it. If you want to understand what the Koran is saying, you can read the original form of the passages that Mohammed plagiarized by reading the Bible, Torah, and what holy books there are of Zoroastrianism. It’s all there. Much of what Mohammed repeated in the Koran he garbled or got wrong or misunderstood. Ibn Warraq lays all this out in his book, “Why I Am Not A Muslim.”

Salman: “You underestimate the depth, beauty and eloquence of the Arabic language. Thats the reason why the meanings of each word are lost in translation.”

In fact, the Koran in many places is written in ungrammatical Arabic. That’s pretty odd for a supposedly perfect book written by a supposedly perfect being. And the violent verses of the Koran are many and unambiguous.

Salman: “I await to see Obama in power, if it ever happens. And lets see how many in Congress will be happy when he pulls out of every war good old patriot Bush has put you in.”

There’s an outside chance Obama will win, but I doubt it. He’s riding a crest of irrational euphoria that’s bound to crash on the rocks of reality soon. He’s not very qualified. He hasn’t really done much in his political career but talk.

If Obama should pull our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, the Muslims will bring the war to us again, just like they did on Sep 11.

Salman: “I expect none, as no war to them means no income for a lot of companies. Think food supplies, medical, transport, military equipment, clothing, shelter and the list goes on and on, and on. Oh, and lets not forget health and life insurance as well.”

War is a money loser for any country that fights. Countries only make profits in peacetime. The idea that the war profiteers drive the country to war is socialist propaganda from WWI which has been debunked as false. In fact, these companies jump to the government’s tune. The idea that these guys tell the government what to do is ridiculous, unless you have a cartoon conspiracy view of the world.

And health and life insurance companies make money in peacetime when risk is low, not in wartime when risk is high. You see, Salman, if you’re an insurance company, you only make money when you’re not paying out claims. You see how that works? If you’re an insurance company, you want people to live forever without a scratch so they can keep paying premiums for risks that never materialize.

Salman: “Do not worry Steve, we want nothing from your country. It seems that you want more from us, than you think we want from you.”

Other than oil, you have nothing of value. You don’t create anything. You don’t write anything. You don’t do anything that makes the world a better place. If it weren’t for the oil, the Middle East could disappear from the face of the Earth and the quality of life from the remaining humans would improve, free of Islamic terror.

Salman: “If freedom of speech actually existed in the USA, we would have never seen a video of a young man being controlled with a stun-gun for asking a Kerry a question about the Iraq War. Where is the freedom of speech that you speak of and always proudly proclaim to have?”

You, in typical Arab fashion, have it backwards. The heckler was trying to interrupt the free speech of the speaker. He wasn’t asking questions but shouting accusations and would not let the meeting continue. Free speech means you let the speaker talk. It doesn’t mean that any radical can close down a meeting with wild behavior.

Salman: “Freedom of speech has no limits, and should have no limits. Why is it freedom, if it has “reasonable limits”?”

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you can yell “Fire” in a crowded theater, where the ensuing panic would harm or kill people. Nor does freedom of speech mean that you can slander people, such as falsely claiming your husband is a child molester so as to gain custody of the children in a divorce; or falsely claiming that the product of your business competitor has killed its customers.

I understand that you have little experience with freedom of speech and consequently don’t understand the responsibility which comes with it.

Salman: “Islam gives us freedom of speech. It praises criticism of what is wrong and for us to stand against it.”

That’s the biggest load of crap you have ever laid on this website. Islam requires you to submit and tolerates no criticism. Mohammend killed his critics and laughed at their deaths. Today, Muslims kill and burn and riot in the streets the world around over critical cartoons in Denmark. It is precisely this Islamic intolerance to free speech which has made the Muslim world trail the progress of the civilized world.

Salman: “But it is our oppressing governments that have taken away this basic human right. Islam is complete in every single way, shape and form. It is those who do not understand it, or are ignorant of its teachings, that criticize it or misinterpret it. Like you for instance.”

The governments of Muslim countries are an expression of their people. It is no accident that most Muslim countries are authoritarian thug states. That’s the only kind of organization most Muslims know or understand.

The idea that Islam is complete in all things is pure nonsense. If that were so, why is the Muslim world behind most of the world and especially the West in virtually every dimension of progress. Islam is a loser’s religion, it’s adherents constantly whining about everyone else and claiming to be victims.

And all of us here in America got a complete understanding of Islam’s teachings on Sep 11. For those who slept through that day, Muslims held additional lessons on the London Tube, the Madrid trains, the trains of Bombay, and so on. It’s hard to misinterpret a snuff video where a Muslim is sawing off a victim’s head and shouting Allah Akbar. What a shameful, backward, bloodthirsty, barbarian religion.

After 9/11, the racism Arabs & Muslims received throughout America is not something negligible. But you could then blame the people for having the racist views. Or you could blame the government itself for growing fear into the American people and sowing hatred in them towards the Arabs & Muslims.

For the record, I felt completely at home in both Washington DC and New York. The airport customs were a doddle both going in and coming out with hardly a minute before getting our passports stamped and bid off with a smile and a welcome and thank you.

We made it a point to spend some time at the site of Ground Zero and paid our respects. Throughout the morning we were there amongst hundreds of people coming and going, not once were we made feel uncomfortable.

This is the same experience we had everywhere else we went in both cities.

Salman – not sure why you bother. Don’t you know that the americans that post here understand us better than we understand ourselves, they know our religion, media, and everything about us better than we do. They have even managed to identify a universal muslim mindset. And all this without even speaking arabic. Truly, they are an advanced people.

The only reason we don’t get agree with everything they say is that the religious , educational, and media brainwashing process has taken us too far and we just don’t get it. Obviously.

Mahmood – Try flying in and out with a green passport…..

I was getting “randomly selected” before 11/09.

Loki, with respect, you are being unreasonable.

How difficult is it for any foreigner to enter (and exit) Saudi? How would you go about getting a visit or business visa to get in?

I’m also including Gulf Nationals here as they too are regarded foreigners by the Saudi government.

How long did it take you to come up with this one? Because you know english and cursed as you watched 3 straight hours of MTV you think your above everyone? If only we were so special as to be so tolerant like you. And what were you getting “randomly selected” for before 9/11. There were 2 sleepy TSA officers in any of our airports before then. If you are going to make up some crap lie..make it good at least.

True, with regards to non-gcc but its nowhere near as hard as it once was. Though it never hurts to make some contacts at the consulate 😛 .

I haven’t heard of any issues with GCC people traveling through Saudi. Except of course the unavoidable exposure to our customs officials cheerful disposition. ( though I am convinced this is a universal phenomenon and that there is a genetic screening process that takes place in most countries when hiring customs officials to ensure that any happy, friendly, chatty, smiley genes are not present in the potential candidates)

Customs officials are trained to be brusque – they have to be, hundreds of people passing through every day, and any one of them could be carrying illegal foodstuffs or trying to get around the Taxman.

On the other hand, the Saudi customs guards get to destroy things like crosses and Bibles with religious fervor – like they enjoy it or something.

    Salman,

Your example of lack of speech in the US is a poor one. That young man that you refer to actually “asked” for the stun gun to be used against him. Did he not plan it? Did he not set up his camera and bring in his friend to film him? He was after the publicity. Obviously, he could not be allowed in the way of free speech.

I am surprised that you would not kneel before a country that saved your fellow Muslims from certain genocide. You seem to be a keen Muslim. Aren’t Muslims supposed to care for each other? You amaze me. You prefer to sit in your comfortable chair and see your own people die? You would not even allow another country to step in?

I do not know about your religion but this does not seem to me to be what humanity is all about!
