Shari'a law is A source of legislations, it is not the only source. Why can't educated people of Bahrain vote for throwing these BrainFARTS out of the office. I have a right I guess as it is mentioned in the constitution to vote for whom I like, but as soon as the nation started voting there were rumors that if a person doesn't vote he is not to benefit from some government services or considered less worthy, such as housing or being employed in the government sector an etc... I haven't voted yet for the following reasons, till now I haven't found anyone worth my voice in my area. well of course I'd vote for educated people not people with no Brains or as Mahmood calls them brainfarts. In politics to achieve your goals you need to compromise and negotiate. As oppossed to simply issuing a fatwa. Since they knew something is not going to be accepted by the shura council then there is no reason to go all out to push something. Instead they should have proposed a simple "protest resolution" with little fuss and then move on, if they felt strongly on this issue. I also doubt they really understand the implications of the consitution or have even read and understood it properly. Banning alcohol sends out a message that Bahrain is no longer a tolerant and balanced society and is heading on a very slippery downhill slope to isolation. As you stated, it's NOT about alcohol. It's about sending out a message to the world that this is the first step to becoming an islamist state (a most unfortunate and worrying term) and you'd better plan removing your investments now.
