A quick update. We are well on the way of making a final announcement soon. We met last night and discussed both the code and its explanatory document as well as the opinions of 3 different lawyers and a leading human rights activist and we agreed on most points. A couple of thorny issues will be discussed next Wednesday evening and we hope that then we can resolve all pending issues.

I think this code of ethics is wonderfully thought up. It seems throughout history that sectarianism in any culture, does more to keep people fighting against one another instead of working cooperatively on common causes.

My ‘enlightenment’ came at age 8 when I came to understod sectarianism and bigotry for what they were doing while the US was in the early days of the Civil Rights movement. It struck me that to choose a life filled with bias, ignorance, superstition and all that goes with them is to choose against human dignity and growth. Willful ignorance became, to my thinking, a form of violence that is done against the soul of a people. It was wrong to do that kind of violence. It hurts.
