ahhh the babies are so cute! I see you have orchids, I recieved my first one for my birthday this year…amazing they are still alive. Any hints on how to get them to put out more stems? Or flowers?

    Thanks for the great show.

    Thanks River.

I don’t have much experience with orchids, other than I have been told to not over-water them, as they get most of their water from the atmosphere around them. This one I have no idea what type it is, it was a gift from my gardener who doesn’t know what it is beyond it being an orchid; hence, I am anxious to see its flowers to be able to identify it.

Hi Mahmood….I love orchids and have a ton. I water mine just a small bit perhaps 1/4 cup once a week and fertilize about once a month, just the liquid kind that mixes with water.

When the flowers are done blooming, cute off the stem where the flowers bloomed from but not the big leaves it grew from.

In 6 months to a year a new leaf will grow and then produce more flowers. If the old leafs get brown or spotty you can clip them.

You need to repot them when the roots are sticking up alot. I put in some rock for drainage.

When I am home in Bahrain I buy orchids at Singapore Flowers in Adiliya…..theres are lovely.

    Peace and Kind Regards, Mashtan

First thing I checked when I got back this morning was the Friday slideshow; it’s terrific as usual. The flowers are just exquisite. Thanks.

THanks Mashtan for the advice on the cutting thing…

I didnt know i had to fertilize them…i know they grow in trees in their native environment…the one in the house doesnt have any dirt, which is a nice thing since it also doesnt have any bugs that hitched a ride inside!!

    have a great week
