Imagine being woken up after midnight – at 01:40 to be precise) after going flat out for weeks and that particular night is the first one you have had to really sleep – with a threatening aka advice phone call (not on mine as well, it was my wife’s mobile!) from someone who’s claim to fame is “the protection of virtue” of the lovely ladies whom I have taken pictures of consensually at the recent F1 race… What would your reaction be?
What I did was thank the guy and remind him that it was late, I was asleep and he successfully scared half the life out of me and disconnected.
He didn’t seem to get the message, he called again! We had to switch off the phone.
Mr. Anonymous, don’t do that. If you have a problem with me putting up pictures or articles do the civilised thing: enter a comment here, call at a civilised hour. If you must, you have the legal process to resort to.
This issue is really non of your business. If anyone objects to their picture appearing here, do call me or email me but please be prepared to prove your identity and I will gladly remove that picture forthwith.
For that person who disturbed our sleep, your telephone number is +973-xxxx xxxx. I hope that someone returns the favour to you while you are in deep sleep.
Oh, and welcome to the TWITBTHIFD Society!
update it seems that the guy was genuinely disturbed to see his sister in a few of the pictures and says that his sister was upset too. I have now removed the offending pictures and apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Threats after midnight are not appreciated
Glad to see (I hope) this issue has been resolved. It never stops amazing me how people will resort to actions like this FIRST instead of talking a logical rational approach.
This does beg the question.. Is he still a member of the TWITBTHIFD Society?
Re: Threats after midnight are not appreciated
for calling after midnight and scaring the life out of me (I thought someone in the family died or was in hospital) yes, otherwise no, it seemed to have been genuine concern and the girl in question has taken offense to her picture being up and that’s fair enough.
Threats after midnight are not appreciated
Again, I am glad to hear the issue is resolved. Anytime my phone rings after 11:00 PM I get a little scared also. Let alone being jarred up at 1:40 am by it. Notwithstanding the recent events of your father and your son with some medical scares. I do hope an pray both are doing well.
Hope to see you sooner rather than later.
Ciao!

Re: Threats after midnight are not appreciated
thank you Mark, both are doing well… but YOU should take care of yourself man! I was looking forward to all those shawarmas we were going to eat!
Get well soon, pretty soon I hope…
Threats after midnight are not appreciated
Mahmood,
We will eat copious amounts of shawarmas! I PROMISE!! Meanwhile I am seriously thinking of having some shawarmas shipped in. (Dad, Mom hint hint…) I even had a dream about Grill Land last night…
I am taking care of myself as best as I can. Got the pill bottles lined up across my desk. This latest “problem” is worse than recovering from back surgery, but I will get through it. As always if you need anything from this part of the world it is just an email away.
Ciao!

Re: Threats after midnight are not appreciated
Mahmood,
For what it’s worth, some people are squirrelly about their photos here in America, too. I always have a camera in my hand, often take shots at company events, and always encounter people who hate the camera. Here it is a vanity issue rather than a modesty issue. It is always the women who object, never men. Their image of themselves differs from the photos I take and the photos are wrong, wrong, wrong! They don’t call me up in the middle of the night and threaten me but they can make such a stink about it that you wish they would be so direct.
I don’t even try to photograph unwilling subjects anymore. I just wish them well and press on. But of course, when they are the ones left out when the pictures are passed out, they are mad about that, too.
For what it’s worth, I found your photos interesting. I had no idea that women in Bahrain wore Western clothes. The only images I see of women from the Middle East show them in burkas half the time or at least a full dress and head scarf. I thought that was mandatory.
Another Lesson Learned,
Steve

Steve,
Boston area was sunny and in the Mid 50’s. BUT OF COURSE it is going to rain tomorrow. If you ever make your way up to Boston drop me an email.

Mahmood,
That is too funny!!! Great minds think alike? You didn’t happen to stop by Grill Land for a shawarma or two by any chance? (insert picture of me as Homer Simpson drooling)
