Seriously, having found the story hilarious I now feel sadder and sadder for that camel. I wish there was some way it could be bought and sent abroad, compensating the owners and saving its life.
Setting up a charity for future such cases seems rather absurd: though the Ravished Animal Purchase Emergency fund does spring to mind…

On a more serious note however, the thing I don’t understand however is why Islam demands the killing of the animal? Is there any danger at all for that animal to become pregnant and produce a half human and half beast? Something here just does not compute. And as far as “tainted meat” is concerned, that doesn’t make any sense either.

Years ago the Ayatolla Khomeini (aka Sauron) issued a weird fatwah concerning sex with animals. He said it was permitted, because men needed to satisfy their desires, but that the animal could not be sold for meat to a neighbouring village. Presumably selling it on to a distant village was ok.
I believe that the fatwah singled out chickens for some reason.
