Time to boycott France!

A French newspaper reprinted on Wednesday a series of 12 Danish newspaper cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad that have sparked protests in the Muslim world and prompted Saudi Arabia to recall its ambassador from Denmark.

The France Soir daily said it had published the cartoons in the name of freedom of expression and to fight religious intolerance, saying a secular country like France could not be bound by the precepts of any religion.
Reuters

Now what? You’re going to boycott the F1 because Renault takes part in it? Stop buying French cars, technology, cheese? All of the above? Any one particular product? Wine boycott maybe?

Well, before you go jump off a cliff, I hope you realise that France Soir is owned by an Egyptian: Ramy Lakah, so we might as well boycott Egypt too! But as Egypt has no product to call its own, other than oil in the Sinai, reeds and some stones which belonged to the Kuffar of old, then I have no problem lumping it in the same pot as Norway, Denmark, and France.

So my prediction has come true! Don’t play with fire guys, let it go, for goodness’ sake let it go. This is not doing us as a nation any good at all. It just demonstrates our intolerance… but that’s nothing new now is it.

I am impressed the French (or some people in France) showed a bit of spine for once and published the cartoons. Contrast that with the chicken shit limp wristed reaction that the tarts at Geant showed by pulling products and this newspaper is truly a breath a fresh air. Sadly though the owner will now have a price on his head for this and his family as well. Now where are the tolerant moderate voices in the Arab world?

I Hope ALL newspapers plaster this stuff daily.. it’s already on TV like every hour. What’s going to happen now? Close down TV sets? What about in buses and airplanes and trains.. where naturally they will carry such newspapers.. will transportation and media be banned now? so what now? can’t drive a French car? what about American? like no way.. what about German? Well they did it and put in their newspapers today… Asian? where do u go???!

Those flag burnings have been getting a little boring lately. Let us just hope that no one sets themselves on fire by accident. Kind of makes me think of that UNIBROW character. Anyone remember him?

The Danish and Norwegian newspapers (which I know firsthand) were -abusing- their right to free speech. Based on some right wing/christian ideology they actively sought to offend other people.

While they can publish whatever they like, the protests/boycotts makes the rest of the population aware of the matter, and puts pressure on the editors to admit their own stupidity… which can only be a good thing IMHO.

    Dag from Norway

You can’t claim the newspapers where “abusing” their right to free speech and then in the next paragraph say “they can publish whatever they like”. Your argument doesn’t pass the basic scratch and sniff test. Almost like saying you voted for something before you voted against it… Still can’t figure that one out…

Please explain your contradiction. There is either quote unquote “abuse” or there isn’t. Not much gray area there.

Okay m’lady, I have changed the site’s configuration to ease your (and others’) pain. I have set the cookie expiry to 30 days and the session timeout to 90 minutes. That means that you would have to log in only once a month, provided that you select the “remember me” button, and if you are inactive for 90 minutes you will be logged off automatically.

I’ve also changed the name of the cookie to “MAHMOODTV” which means that all you fine people will have to log in once again, but only once, to set the new cookie on your computers.

Let me know if you experience any difficulties.

    Dag,

The only people abusing anything are the radical Muslims who demand we all bow down to Mecca. They are the same radical Muslims who demanded Piglet (from Winnie the Pooh) be banned in England because he is a pig. Encouraged by that success, they now make war on piggy banks and toy pigs. Their arrogant imposition of their intolerant religion on the rest of us must be opposed.

Basically, your choice is to put a stop to their nonsense now when it’s only about cartoons or later when they are burning your churches and synagogues down and demanding your nation recognize sharia law. They will not stop, Dag, until you stop them. If you don’t have the character to stop them, I recommend you learn the meaning of the word “dhimmi,” because you will be on your way to becoming one.

Finally, an anti-American remark with which I agree. My last American car required me to replace the alternator five times, without remedying the problem. I should have known better when I drove it off the dealer’s lot brand new and a big piece of interior trim fell off before I got six blocks. The last straw was when the head gasket blew in the middle of Arkansas, fifty miles from the nearest dealership. My last two cars have been Toyota and they have been very well-behaved. My next car will be a Toyota, too.

    Re(1): Time to boycott France!

An op-ed piece in Norwegian newspaper “Nationen” echoes most of my argument; http://www.nationen.no/meninger/kommentar/article1932280.ece

    Norwegian foreign minister Jonas G. Støre commented on national tv;
“The Muhammed-cartoons have not been published in other major norwegian papers. They have used their head and not published the cartoons.”

Spokesperson of the German Association of Journalists said in regards to the publication in german newspapers (www.netzeitung.de) “The publication is in contradiction with the presscode article 10 which says that “publication using words or images that, in form or content, may offend a group of people in regards to moral or religious questions, is not compatible with the responsibility of the press.”

I do not think it is a far fetched to consider JP right-wing, and Magazinet is clearly outer right-wing christian converative (www.magazinet.no).

    Though JP have recently explained their “intentions” as not wanting to offend anyone, I rather share blogger Raapils view; (http://raapil-unblogged.blogs.com/raapil_unblogged/2005/10/ytring.html) (Danish);

“But maybe the muslims and their representatives – f.ex. those ambassadors, which the prime minister (of Denmark) very unpolitely refused to meet with – should have focused more on the content of the famous cartoons, than on the dogma that Muhammed should not be pictured. Several of the cartoons – those of Kurt Westergaard and Rasmus Sand Høyers in particular- can be grouped in the genre of “political caricature in bad faith” having proud traditions back to “Der Stürmers” jewish caricatures and the Danish cartoons of Pia Kjærsgaard as a rat.”

Comparing them to “Der Stürmer” is harsh (and not necessarily something i agree with), but lacking bad-faith on the part of the editors there is not much left but sheer stupidity in regards to the understanding of foreign cultures/beliefs.

And I have not been convinced by JPs “apologies” that this is/was the case.

But such views are clearly those of conspiracy-theorists… riiiight!

Look at that list JJ. Are these not actions done in the name of Islam? You and I both know that the fast majority of Muslims do not suscribe to the Death Cult cries of the extremists. The lack of loud voices shouting down the crazues concerning. The world I am afraid is getting tired of waiting for the moderates to find their voice.

    JJ,

If the Chinese build a better car, I will buy it. I don’t believe in subsidizing incompetent American labor that builds a product that makes my life hell. You would not have wanted to hear what I had to say about General Motors as I was standing beside their $%&# product, smoke coming out from under the hood, on that lonely Arkansas freeway in that long ago December.

Besides, you can’t get good products by subsidizing bad products. You must support the best ones where ever they come from and who ever makes them. However, that said, I don’t think the Chinese have the quality discipline that the Japanese have. Their quality control consists of shooting factory managers who make too many bad refrigerators.

    World War I – Christians
    World War II – Christians
    Vietnam War – Christians

You can give us another list of the atrocities caused by muslims, but the list above should remind you that barbarians come in all forms, whether they are christians, muslims, jews, or any other types of followers. Before you loose the plot, think of it like this: Bin Laden is as a monster first, and a religious fundamentalist second. Same goes for Hitler.

  55. [deleted]0.95776700 1099323586.392

    Re(1): Time to boycott France!

This is quite a distortion of history. Of these historical events, only the Inquisition killed people for religion. The rest were not fought over religion, whereas the list of terrorist acts presented before were perpetrated to propagate Islam.

I might also point out that the Japanese started the war in the Pacific with Pearl Harbor and did not do so because they were Christians. We dropped the Bomb on Japan twice to end their war, killing 300,000 in those air attacks to end a war which would have killed millions if allowed to be fought to the end conventionally. Your criticism is uninformed.

Likewise, it is crazy to call the Holocaust a Christian atrocity. Hitler and the Nazis were pagans, not Christians. They wanted to create their own half-baked religion based on Nordic gods and bits of the occult. The Nazis did not put Catholic priests in positions of authority in the Nazi regime, they put them in concentration camps.

As for Vietnam, it was North Vietnam, not a Christian country, which invaded South Vietnam and sought to conquer it, not the other way around. North Vietnam is officially atheist, not Christian.

It is crazy to call Hitler a religious fundamentalist. He didn’t care about religion any more than Stalin nor Saddam. However, Osama Bin Laden is all about Islam and propagating it by violence. They are all evil, but only Bin Laden is quoting a holy book to justify his murders.

    Time to boycott France!

Now it comes out that the Islamic Society in Denmark, which drummed up the hate by publicizing the cartoons in the Middle East, apparently didn’t think the cartoons were offensive enough to they conjured up three more fake ones and included them with the rest to get the hate-pot boiling.

This follows a pattern of Muslims lying about blasphemy to whip up hatred. This is similar to the phony Koran desecration incident in Gitmo, where Muslims rioted in the streets over a bogus accusation that Gitmo guards were abusing the Koran, when in fact the only abuse was done by a Muslim prisoner who tore his Koran up and tossed it down his latrine. At Gitmo, it was the Muslim who did the desecration. In this cartoon flap, it is the Muslims who produced the most abusive cartoons. In both cases, blasphemy by Muslims was attributed to Westerners, which is the other favorite Muslim pastime: Shifting blame to the Other.

All of this is part of a campaign of bullying and intimidation by radical Muslims to manipulate the opinion of the gullible Muslim masses so as to gain power over the West.

Damn those muslims, Steve! With their muslim looks and their muslim talk! Muslims in Muslimland everywhere. With their muslim food and muslim walks, muslim cafes and muslim calendars. Muslim muslim muslims! Apparently they all look like muslims who think like muslims! No individuality, ofcourse in Muslimsville. The currency is muslim and their names all begin with Muslim and end with Muslim. They speak a muslim language and all, I repeat, all must hate anything thats not muslim.

Don’t worry about it, man. The same narrow view you have about those wacked out muslims, they think the same way about you, cowboy.

ps. I loved you in Brokeback Mountain!

    Re(2): Time to boycott France!

Steve I’m sure that you are intelligent enough to understand that it is not about Islam, it is not about religion – it never was. It is simply about politics, control, and greed. Regardless of how the fundamentalists call themselves, the ultimate thing is that they want control of a country and people.

That’s all my friend.. let’s just ban all religions. Once we do that, there is a better chance of living harmoniously!

    Re(1): Time to boycott France!

My office looks out on the Pentagon, where Muslim murderers crashed their suicide jet and killed 189 people. I can also see the Capitol, where Muslim murderers wanted to crash their fourth suicide jet. I walk downtown past buildings that appear in Al Qaeda surveillance videotapes of possible targets. A few miles from my house, Muslims set up “charities” to gather money for Al Qaeda. Also, only a few miles from my house, Saudi Arabia has set up what amounts to a madrassa that teaches Muslim kids to hurt and steal from non-Muslims. Some of its staff and graduates have been arrested as terrorists. I ride the Metro which Muslims want to blow up, just like they did in Madrid and London.

These are not figments of my imagination. They are incidents of Muslims doing murder in my neighborhood, planning to do further murder in my neighborhood, and teaching their children to make war on America. That inspires my rightful contempt.

If you want me to respect Muslims and Islam, stop doing murder in my neighborhood. Stop planning to do murder in my neighborhood. Stop teaching your children to do murder in my neighborhood. It’s that simple.

    Re(3): Time to boycott France!

While I grant you that radical Islam provides useful cover for the exercise of politics, control, and greed, it is not clear to me that it is not about Islam. There would be no world-wide jihad if there were no Islam to provide the script for religious violence. It is clear that many middle class kids from the Middle East would not be strapping on suicide belts or planting bombs if their religion did not persuade them that such violence was the way to find paradise.

The Soviet Union tried that, and harmonious living was hardly the consequence.

    Time to boycott France!

Here are some signs from the religion of peace and tolerance:

    “Behead those who slander Islam!”
    “Slay those who slander Islam!”
    “Exterminate those who slander Islam!”
    “Annihilate those who slander Islam!”

What a violent reaction from a religion that casually calls the worshippers of other religions pigs and monkeys. It looks like respect is a one way street in Islam: Muslims are free to vituperate every non-Muslim in the vilest of terms but those same non-Muslims must scrupulously respect Islam.

You know, all of the West would be supporting the Muslims in this cartoon flap were it not for the venomous hatred coming from the Muslim world. If Muslims had made themselves welcome everywhere they go instead of despised, the whole of Europe would be rising to the Muslim’s defense right now. If Muslims built schools and hospitals everywhere they went instead of terror cells and bombs, these cartoons would be considered beyond the pale by every right-thinking Westerner. If Muslims integrated into the societies where they moved and acculturated themselves rather than isolated themselves and demand their hosts change their societies to suit them, you’d have Westerners marching on the newspaper offices rather than Muslims.

Voltaire would say he disagreed with what you said, but he’d fight to the death for your right to say it. The Muslim Voltaire would say he disagreed with what you said, and he’d kill you for it. That is an essential difference in values between our cultures which is propelling this current clash of civilizations. Quite frankly, the orthodox Muslim intolerant view should lose for the sake of the world. Free speech should reign supreme, not Islam.

How typical. Other people have things like an International Day of Trees or an International Day of Music. But the Fundies have an International Day of Anger. And then they wonder why Westerners laugh at them.

I pity you, Steve, as you are a man constantly living in fear. I know this sounds like a cliche, but unfortunately Bin Laden’s gotten the best of you because he hasn’t allowed you to live your life the way you want it through the idea that he may strike again at any second. I know your anger at him because he made Bush look like a coward on that fateful day, especially now, where your president’s approval ratings aren’t that hot. I really would hate to be you.
And then they wonder why Westerners laugh at them.
And us “Westerners” wonder why the “moderate” Muslims keep allowing this shit to go on and on and on and on. Instead we are greated with the same BS lines over and over again. Islam is peacefull, this is not the real Islam yadda yadda yadda.

Even today with the tragic happenings in the Red Sea some well intentioned Muslim(s) in Egypt REFUSED an offer from Israel to aid in the rescue effort as well as turning down the US 5th Fleets offer too. Seems some would rather see people die than be helped by the JOOOOOOOOS.

If Islam is so peacfull than it shouldn’t fucking matter that Israel is helping in a time of crisis.

I do understand the US Navy is helping anyway.

Eurabia was just a bullshit concept by those Americans who don’t want to acknowledge that the US hascritics outside Arabia regarding its craven policies towards Israel or the double talk behind the Iraq invasion.

    Time to boycott France!

A leading Islamic cleric has declared today an “international day of anger” over the Danish cartoons because, after all, anger is what Islam is all about. What would radical Muslims do if they weren’t hating somebody?

I predict the Muslim thugs will kill somebody over these cartoons. Maybe today. Maybe they already have as I type these words. I predict that Muslims are building bombs as you read this to take revenge for these cartoons.

This is a test for the West, a test of whether we really believe in freedom of speech and whether we are willing to defend it against assault from violent barbarians who demand we kowtow to their backward and hateful creed.

    Re(1): Time to boycott France!

    I love the delicious irony.

Islam by and large portrays itself as a violent, hateful and controlling repressive religion due to the repeated calls for Jihad against unbelievers.

Mohammed is depicted as a terrorist in a couple of images.

Huge numbers of Muslims react with terror threats.

Sometimes the stereotype is scarily true.

And thank God that Europe has found something worth defending. Europe may finally wake up. Eurabia may just be not a foregone conclusion.

May I point out that when hundreds of Egyptians drowned in this tragedy, Americans did not dance in the streets nor pass out sweets to celebrate their deaths like a bunch of bloodthirsty savages. We sent ships to help.

    Just an ignorant question…

about the cartoons. The 3 ones that really looked offensive to me (and which are not funny, and poorly drawn — the one with the pig snout, the dog, and that graffity-type thing) were NOT published by the Jyllandsposten. In fact, the Danish paper knows nothing about them.

Apparently they were drawn up by the Danish immams to jazz up their presentation.
Now let me see… surely those imams must be muslim, so should THEY not follow islamic law?
Is there a special excemption for imams to draw crude Prophet pictures if it serves a good purpose?
    Or what?

    Maybe somebody can enlighten me…
