This one is supposed to bring you good luck, at least that’s what I remember the guy said at the stall in Colombo, while on a quick one night stop-over ferrying refugees from Iraq during the Iraq/Kuwait war. I lived on a Boeing 767-300ER as a resident engineer for 4 whole days ferrying as many people as possible between Amman, Jordan to Bombay, New Delhi and Colombo.

It wasn’t a big deal DiB, as the 767 was new at the time, and I was one of the few who did do the courses and got my certification as an engineer on it, I volunteered to be a “flying spanner” for a while helping in the international evacuation effort. Quite a few of my colleagues did the same thing.
That was my first and only visit to Bombay and New Delhi, both places I would really like to visit at length one day.
Hardly a war zone Joker! We flew in and out of Amman which was quite a distance away from the zone of hostilities… but I’ll stand with you and say that the mask is lucky (no way for me to know, as it has been hanging on my wall since then and nothing out of the ordinary happened!)

Did you ever work on the A340?
My memory from Bahrain of the 340 was one of an aircraft that needed a push from an almost divine force to get off the ground and getting to it’s cruising altitude with a combination of luck and a lot of help from my colleagues (air traffic controllers) .
