Pigeon Chicks – Day 1

Pigeon chicks, day 1

Pigeon Chicks – Day 1, originally uploaded by malyousif.

Independence Chicks! 😉

These are the second clutch of pigeons we have had hatching on our window sill upstairs. They hatched during the night, and their mother just went down to stretch and eat something, so I took the chance to take a picture of the new babies.

The other day Mahmood I was just sitting outside on my terrace enjoying some beautiful whether, when I noticed two pigeons suddenly fly down and land right in front of my chair!

They stood there, oblivious to me and my relaxing legs on the table apparently, looked at each other, all the while seeming to communicate with their trademarked “coo…coooo”…

So I decided to sit very very still, and just watch them, and couldnt help but notice how much their heads popped back and forth with every step they would take – I had known that pigeons did that, but when I saw them so up close, it looked SO funny that I burst out into laughter and quickly scared them away! hahaha.

It just looked preposterous from my vantage point! I have a feeling they wont be visiting my veranda anytime soon! 🙁

I thought those birds were doves, but I was corrected. I’m now told that they are actually “wood pigeons”, doves are white…

no no not that kind (although I DO prefer those! I call those the “real” pigeons)

These, on the other hand, would grow to something like this:
