Frangipani flower

Frangipani flower, originally uploaded by malyousif.

One of our favourite trees whose flowers give out a heavenly scent around dusk, especially enjoyed in summer when it is in full bloom. I think our frangies are a bit confused as it is cold and the end of the year and they’re still flowering!

Have a wonderful and peaceful Friday my friends.

planted two Frangipani in my garden today after reading your post. There’s a red flowering variety, does anybody know where I can find it.

Adel I’ve got one red one, but those don’t have a scent but are pretty flowers nontheless.

I got mine from Agriflora on the Jid Haffs highway (Burhama). But call them first as they don’t normally bring them. Another place you might try is Bader and Alya on the Janabiyya highway. I have a feeling that Hortigroup in Muharraq (behind the airport) might have some too. Again, call.

    Here’s another one for you!

    Hi Mahmood,

I love this flower. We have them here in Tel Aviv as well, and I can get drunk on their scent. Another tree to add to my future garden.

    Great photo.

    Mahmood,

Think you can get us a close up photo of a bee or wasp one of those days? πŸ˜›

I have three 30+ year old white ones in my back yard. The red ones are called the graveyard flower here in Hawai’i because the plumeria is planted so often in cemeteries.

Ibn, think? I’ve been angling for some of those closeups for a while, just hang in there.

Bill, I can understand why: fantastic scent, looks good and provides good shade. But it is impossible to grow one in our cemeteries here because there is no water around and it needs a lot of that.

CQ and all, thanks, glad you enjoy them!

these are beautiful pics. makes me want to buy a few to plant in our yard. we’ve been looking for good places to buy trees and such, so i’ll try these.

tooners you can grow them by busting off a small branch and planting it. They sell pieces in the airports here that you can take back to the mainland, even if they wont grow in most of the US due to cold winters.

woops I should have said planted oudoors. You can pot them and they will grow outdoors in the summer and indoors in the winter.

That’s very true, Frangipanis are very forgiving and all you need to do is simply break off a branch, take the leaves off and stick it into the ground and it will grow!

“The Old Lady” our main plumeria was completely uprooted due to a big storm a few years ago (I think in ’97) and the gardeners just wanted to chop it up and throw it out, Frances refused to let them do that and told them to just reset it in its place and it took again in no time.

She also just planted the broken off branches into pots and you can see how glorious those two cuttings are doing as they bracket our front gate and they’re both huge!
