I swear I didn’t do any editing nor am I being “funny”, but I came across this picture while reading Or Does it Explode this morning. I thought the author was being funny, but following the link back to Yahoo News it seems that Reuters published it as is with the following caption:
Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain, looks on after receiving the 2006 Special Citation of the Habitat Scroll of Honour during the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) meeting at the United Nations European headquarters in Geneva July 2, 2007. The picture is apparently available for sale if you want it.

I swear I would have staged a one-person protest, paid for my ticket to Geneva just to protest against this ridiculous award that this dinosaur has bought off the UN for a million dollars… a bargain apparantly. What next, the nobel prize for peace?
The UN is discredited as it is, does it really need to whore itself to middle-eastern dictators that have every human rights NGO on their backs, from amnesty to HRW. Speaking of which just issued a statement condemning this award:
United Nations: Bahrain Prime Minister Poor Choice for Habitat Award
But it’s only showing 50% of the PM’s head. Is this percentage relevant?
“But it’s only showing 50% of the PM’s head.”
