I hereby declare, that in response to eMoodz’s 85 nags about Bahrain and enTaiFah’s excellent opposing list, that I shall only publish Good News™ for 7 days starting immediately!
First bit of good news:
Our compatriot Juma’a Al-Dossary has been released from Guantanamo after being incarcerated there for five years without trial. An agreement has been reached between the US and both Saudi and Bahrain to release him with other Saudi detainees who have now been transferred to Saudi prisons. We hope that we will know the truth of Juma’a involvement in Afghanistan and hope too that he will receive a fair trial here, something that has been denied him by the “greatest democracy the world has known.”
I would like to thank everyone who worked hard at getting Juma’a released, particularly the BCHR and the various diplomats and lawyers who stood against this injustice.
The second piece of good news:
Mabrook!
Our PM is back home after receiving an award at the UN and now promises to redouble his determined effort at really developing the country – the whole country – and taking us to the next level.
Good, I hope he starts by stamping out corruption and make that a top priority.
Comments
I hope this was a sarcastic comment, coz 0x2=0 mahmood.
For some reason I think Juma’a is soon going to be wishing he stayed in Gitmo. I somehow don’t see the Saudis taking better care of him. I also feel this is the last we will ever hear of Juma’a as I don’t see the Saudi’s “entertaining” his lawyers, or his family for that matter with access. Sad, but unfortunately probably all too true… 😥
but judging by previous experience with Gitmo detainees who have been transferred to Saudi, he’ll be out in no time, with a golden handshake too.
What’s with the required login M ❓
anyho
1. First of all, he’s not really a bahraini, just one of those “I got the red simsim cause my surname is Al Dosari”, hint hint…No? Anyone?
2. Good luck with posting good news M cause I forgot the last time I heard good news happening in Bahrain…. 👿
I got fed up of cleaning the spam and kids attempts to break things. This requirement to login before commenting has so far helped. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it is a necessary evil at the moment.
This is the count as of a minute ago:
I guess the more popular a site is, the more rocks are thrown at it!
finally I get to write a comment, anyway good news anyone ?
I love Bahrain but if we can’t nag about it who would?
there is a country out there with a society and beoble that need nagging and don’t forget it is a part of the Ba7rani nature, ( being one I would know), so therefore you’ll always find beoble that nag and do nothing but nag, if somebody else nags we get offended and feel insulted because they steal our right to mock and nag about anything in the country or the beoble.
I agree with Amal in lots of things but yet we simply need to nag, plus I’ll write about it in entaifah’s blog and I’ll add few points which would make anyone fall in love with Bahrain.
I do prefer enTaiFah’s excellent opposing list, makes Bahrain sound like a much brighter place to visit.
It’s cool to hear good news for a change as well. The world is full of horrendous stuff happening at the moment.
That said, having a damned good moan can be therapeutic. 😀

I think this will be good for me personally actually. I was re-reading the last few weeks posts and the needle was definitely on the pessimistic side, which is not me at all. I’ll try to swing it to the “green” side for as long as I could and see if it reflect “me” more completely. I will still criticise, but I think I will put a “good side” spin on things rather than delve in the black too much.
I hope that he gets a fair trial. In the meantime, I bet a Saudi prison will not be like being in Disneyland.
Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib are some of the greatest embarassments to my country and for people that love democracy.
As I just sighted in your “Talk”, I am glad you took your happy pills. 😆 You have to balance the good vibes with the bad.
When I watch the news, I expect to hear awful stories of how the world is messed up. However, the stories that linger with me are NOT how many people were killed or how terrible a politician is, but those stories of goodness and random acts of kindness.
ABC is reporting his release now too. I didn’t realise he was a dual-citizenship holder.
