A 12 year old girl and drugs

This is a true story of someone I know. And this is in Bahrain. A 12 year old girl was expelled from school at Easter for taking a bottle of Vodka to school intending consumption at one of the kids’ school parties on the school permises.

The girl was sent off to an exclusive girls’ boarding school outside of Bahrain. She has been expelled from that one too due to intravenous drug use!

Can you imagine what kind of future this child is going to have? Where are her parents? Sure they’re divorced, but does that absolve them from their responsibilities of bringing up their children, listening to them, nurturing them, and most importantly try to teach them right from wrong?

I have a saying that I’m sure I heard somewhere but taken it as my own, it goes like this: you need to pass a driving test to be able to drive a car, but any assholes can bring children into the world without any hindrance.

This is truly sad.

    Harsh punishment..??

It seems a bit harsh to expell this girl for something like this… I am not trying to say that she was not doing something wrong. Its just that the vodka event doesnt seem to be an expellable (is that a word) offense. Is she probably screwed up, yeah. Is kicking her out of school a good way to try to remedy her situation, NO!.

    just my 2 cents

    Re: Harsh punishment..??

I totally agree with you that the punishment was very harsh. I would rather send her and her parents to therapy, group session or whatever it takes to make sure that the girl and her parents understand fully what has went wrong and work toegether to correct the situation. It might well be that the second offense was yet another cry for help. I guess in her case, no one was listening.
