We went to the Pirates of the Carribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl movie last night and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The kids and I can’t wait for the DVD to come out. Johnny Depp was dissapointing to me however, I can’t get myself to relate to his character at all. Sure he’s my wife’s current object de lust along with Orlando Bloom 🙁 but mine is the delectable Keira Knightley 🙂 yummmmy! (that riled Amna up no end, she couldn’t get it in her imagination that we “old foggies” can ever find other people attractive!)
No seriously, what brought the movie down for me was the portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp. I think if he just kept away from the continuous effeminate and uncoordinated movements and be more “butch” as a pirate should be, I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more.
But hey, that Keira Knightley certainly carried her role well!
If I have to choose who the star of the film is however, it goes to Geoffrey Rush who is excellent as usual. I especially liked him in “Quills” as well.

Johnny was the best part of the movie, he was supposed to be a little eccentric, hes kinda like the “alternative pirate”, I love captain jack sparrow to pieces.

This movie is the best that I ever seen. especially with Captain Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp) and Will Turner(Orlando Bloom). They are way hot. The Girl Elisabeth is a good actress too. This movie is the best. It’s excellente.

Johnny Depp based his performance on Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Watch it again with that in mind and I think you’ll understand what he was doing.

Johnny Depp= Jack Sparrow= nice, drunk (which is ausome), wonderful, good, and the best pirate that has ever sailed the 7 seas.
Barney and Sesame Street= Well, they are all good, so you won’t have any trouble understanding- I hope.

I loved Depp’s accent because it was quite “gypo” (taken from Snatch). It was funny to watch, and not one to really take seriously, although the Oscars have :(.
Rush is delicious too actually. He plays his part well. I liked him in Les Miserable more though and in Frida. Hmmm… something about him makes him very attractive. Odd.
Kiera Knightly is (in a word) gorgeous… and I’d love to have her stomach!

[color=indigo] Firstly Johnny made his own character – from the makeup to the walk and everything in between. The directors/producers actually had to tell him to tune it down. Is it such a big deal that he chooses to get so much into his character. This is a sign of an excellent actor.
As for Kiera well she’s good but in some scenes she’s a bit, well… dodgy.
Orlando seems to get the weirdest lines in any movie he is in.
(But I think he’s HOT anyway!)

The opening scene of the first pirates has to be one of the best ever filmed. Im looking forward to the 3rd film to see Keith Richards playing Jacks dad providing he doesnt fall out of to many trees between now and the time they film his scenes.
