Yet another undersea cable break breaks internet and telephone communications

WHEN will Batelco provide an alternative means to the severe and frequent recurrance of their (it seems) only cable connecting the island to the rest of the world? Another cable was found damaged and internet communications in particular are affected.

CABLE DAMAGE NEAR UAE AFFECTS BAHRAIN COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES

“Batelco Head of Corporate Affairs Ahmed Al Janahi stated that Communications services in the region have been severely affected by damage to Submarine cables.”

A partial break in the FOG cable connecting Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and UAE this week has affected Batelco’s INET, leased lines and international telephone services.

The partial break occurred at approximately 12.40pm this week Bahrain time. Batelco engineers are working hard to determine the exact impact of the problem, and are finding alternative means to reroute the traffic via Saudi Arabia to restore as many services as possible.

However, we regret to inform our customers that they may experience ongoing problems in these services over the next few days.

Batelco would like to apologise for any inconvenience to its valuable customers and is promising to do everything in its power to minimise the impact of this damage.

Batelco

It is high time for Batelco to provide multiple cables which can withstand the re-routing of traffic when one is cut or damaged. They’re making enough money and will continue to do so at the lackluster performance and customer satisfaction they enjoy.
