cold turkey!

Welcome to my non-smoking diary. This is day 1 and I quit 3 hours ago. Might not be much for some of you out there, but it is a great deal for me, especially as this is completely cold turkey!

This is my second sincere attempt at giving up the weed, this time I am going to make it.

Why?

    cold turkey!

    Mabrook, Ya Mahmood!

Take this from the son of a (former) chainsmoker. Your children will thank your for it.

I am glad that you have decided to do this and take care of yourself. My father stopped cold turkey after spending a week in Salmaniya hospital. I am so thankful that you are making choices so your family won’t have to go through that.

Mahmood, I don’t mean to be a downer, just know that I am really happy for you making this choice. Keep at it, it’s worth doing, so by definition, it won’t be easy!

    John

PS- Frances, you’d better keep him honest!

    cold turkey!
I look at stairs and get the jitters: will I make to the top of those 10 steps? I avoid all slopes like the plague too.
So this explains the elevator and powered ramps in your house!

Good luck my Arab friend! Nearly four years since my heart attack, I have yet to shake this vile habit. Losing 50 pounds and cutting my salt intake was a breeze! Job stresses and what-not prevent me from doing what I know I must do. You are a better man than I am Gunga Din!

Keep up the good work, the Arab world needs a lot more like you.

No problem Jay, actually that was the very site that helped me quit in a big way. Just seeing the pictures of smokers’ lungs and amputated toes, fingers and feet directly due to smoking-related diseases was enough to push me over the edge.
