I hate this time of day

LOL I so relate…I have done this (btw congratulations!)…it takes a few months!!! to get to where you dont feel obsessed with the damn things…then one day (I swear) you go without thinking about one…then, of course, you start dwelling on it again, but it gets easier…hang in there! Deep cleaning all my surroundings helped me, since I could smell the nasties! That and mentally spending all the money I was saving! Additonally, I look at myself as a recovering smoker, like an alcoholic, since you never really get rid of it. Small bit of advice…NEVER, EVER, EVER take so much as one drag!!!! Best of luck!

Thanks River, yes it has been hard and it will continue to, I know. I quit for about two years previously and how I got back is a single drag at a new year party! Jan 1st I went out and bought a packet, rather than do what every single smoker in the world wishes for, and that is to make a new year resolution to stop, I stupidly started.

But I tell you what, I can’t remember the withdrawal last time was THIS hard! Mind you, last time I quit because I wouldn’t last more than 10 minutes on the treadmill, now I don’t go to the gym at all! So I have to re-find my excuse every single minute of the day. I pine for one puff now, but what I have been doing to allay that feeling is stuff my face and have innumerable cups of tea (not coffee, because that would send me reaching for a cancer stick fast!).

Time to break out my gym membership and at least go there for a long walk after work and maybe once again make friends with the treadmill!

Yeah seems to get harder each time…I am about to quit again…I have to work up to it and list all the reasons I hate the damn things!

Do it! Just do it RIGHT NOW!

I’m getting excellent support from the family: they’re leaving me alone and not mentioning it so that they don’t put more pressure on me and just leaving me to deal with it myself. Occasionally they will give me a pat on the back which is great, but not too often that it becomes stifling.

Arif (the youngest, my son) keeps pumping me up. He got a magazine from school today which supposedly shows or discusses what happens to your body the first year after you quit. He just called me and said that my heart-attack probability will be half that of what it was at a year (after quiting smoking) ago.

    Something to look forward to…

But you know what struck me last night? We orderd Iranian food and one of the best dishes I like there is their safron rice, they also melt a brick of butter on the rice and I TASTED it! I tasted the butter! I haven’t tasted butter for years, believe me it is worth it.

And then I realised that I started to taste a lot of things as well, and they all are different, and more delicate than I expected them now that I don’t have an ashtray for a mouth.

Chocolate taste nicer, butter taste nicer, fruit taste nicer, bread taste nicer, even wine taste much nicer!

The question du jour is… DO SHAWARMAS TASTE BETTER???? Inquiring minds want to know if your tongue will up for the GCC Shawarma Taste Test next year……..
