The Environment Friends Society (EFS) rescued a rare fish last week after it was caught in a fishing net just outside the Hidd area.
The fish that is known as Thoar Amar to Bahraini fishermen or better known as the Spotted Eagle Ray was unable to escape from a fishing net that had been set-up at sea by fishermen.
Upon receiving the report EFS members organised a rescue operation utilising the boat of a fisherman who is a member of the society.
The rescuers, led by EFS president Khawla Al MahÂÂÂnaÂÂÂdi, were able to free the Spotted Eagle Ray during a night operation, after the nets prevented it from reÂÂÂturning to the sea.
