More than 5,000 spectators inspired top GCC drivers in the first ever Rumble In the Desert Drag Race last night at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
The event, organised by E K Kanoo in co-operation with the Bahrain Drag Racing Club, comprised three categories and featured stiff competition among 74 drivers from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar.
The event kicked off with Bahraini driver Ahmed Aryan driving his Honda Civic (type R) in the Street category which was for ‘mild’ modified cars with 34 in the fray.

74 drivers take off for drag race
Hello fellow drag racers.
It is great to see drag racing blossoming there in the middle east.
I run Australias biggest exhibition car team, with 5 vehicles all based on drag racing, but with extra attracions. One wheelstander, two jet engine dragsters, a supercharged funnycar, and twin engine burnout car.
Apart from a full calendar of events here in Australia, our cars performed in Indonesia last year, and next month we are heading to Malaysia to be the main feature at their Dragbattle events.
It is a dream of mine to also run in the Middle East, so with a bit of luck I’ll see your teams and facilities one day soon.
Although my website is hopelessly out of date due to the busy exhibition schedule, you can check out some of my vehicles with photos and vidios on http://www.zooommm.com
To all of you…..enjoy this great sport.
With regards
Graham Slapp
