Formula 3 is recognized around the world as the most important training category for drivers looking to move into Formula 1. Of the 25 drivers who raced in Formula 1 last year, only three did not race in one of the many F3 series around the world on their way to the top.
The Formula 3 Euroseries and the British championship are the most important Formula 3 series in world motorsport, although many others exist around the world. South America, Germany, Italy, Australia, Asia and Spain all have their own Formula 3 Championships, which means that most drivers compete in the category during their careers.
As well as the numerous regional championships, there are also three high-profile international Formula 3 races, of which the Bahrain Super Prix is the last of the year. Like the Marlboro Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort, won by Jaguar F1 driver Christian Klein last year, and the Macau Grand Prix, which has been won in the past by both Michael and Ralf Schumacher, the winner of the Bahrain Super Prix will be one of world motor-racing’s biggest stars of the future. The international races attract the best drivers and teams from all over the world, and this year Alexandre Premat has won both the Masters and Macau, a remarkable achievement against the best in the world.
