Time to Vote!

Today is the first day of voting for the Best Arab Blog of 2004, so please go there and demonstrate your support to the 119 entries, and vote for your favourite of course.

Voting will end on Jan 31st with results announced a little later.

As both myself and Haitham are the organisers, our blogs of course are not in contention. It’s only fair.

Well done to all the nominees.

    Time to Vote!

Mahmood, I’m guessing that the nominees were chosen by Arabs only. That’s the only reason I can think of why blogs like Baghdad Burning or A Family in Baghdad would be in the running, and not blogs such as Iraq The Model or the Messopotamian. I see extreme bias here, so I don’t think I’ll vote as an act of protest (even though I see there are ME blogs I really like).

    Laura, please note the following:

    1. Myself and Mahmood did not nominate any blog,
    2. we cannot confirm/deny that the blogs nominated were done by Arabs “only”.
    3. All blog where submitted either by owners or visitors who liked to nominate someone. They might be Arab, they might not be.
    4. The nomination process was open to anyone from anywhere to nominate any Arab blog.
    5. Non was removed nor rejected.

If you so liked the blogs you mentioned then you should have nominated them. However, it seems that these blogs are of less interest of our part of the world, unlike the west, if that’s where you live at!!!

Anyway, you can nominate them for next year awards.

Okay, you make a very good point about the nominations. Actually, I’ve changed my mind and will vote for some of the blogs that I read regularly. I was feeling cranky the last time I posted … sorry. Now, I’m in a better mood 🙂

    Exciting isn’t it?

I can tell you that both Haitham and myself are learning a lot from this experience and we are already planning how to improve the process for next year… wish all the best.
