It’s the BBC Arabic World Service’s turn now..

I’ve just been told that my Arabic interview with the BBC Arabic World Service is going to be broadcast tomorrow morning and will repeat every hour though out the day.

As happy as I am bringing exposure to this issue, I am not very happy of my oratorical skills in Arabic so I hope I don’t suck big time tomorrow!

The reporter assures me that it’s “okay.”

We’ll see tomorrow morning… In Bahrain you can listen to the BBC Arabic World Service on 103.8MHz FM.

UPDATE: I just heard part of the interview on the radio (around 08:30 on 31 May 2005.) The interview as broadcast also included Hussain Yousif (bahrainonline.org) Abdulla Mohammed (montadayat.org)

UPDATE 2: Our friends Haitham, MMM and Iman have also been interviewed by the Beeb on another topic: the blogging phenomenon in the Arab world. Good on ya, guys. The more expsore we get the better. Please let us know when you know when it’s going to be broadcast.

it appears that contrary to what I have been told, it is not repeated every hour or so, I’ve been listening since 1pm (it’s 4.47 now) and haven’t heard it yet.

I’ve emailed them for to get a transcript and I’ll put it up once received.

I’m sure you’ll do fine. I wonder if we can hear it in the USA? It’s been along time since I’ve been here, What ever happened with the “75 Lashes” did you escape?
Sorry I’m so behind in reading your blog, two siblings have passed, had to bring mom home to live with me, which meant a move too! And my car just took a dump…yada yada yada… LOL and life goes on.
Can’t wait for a TV interview, then we can see the slimmed doown, non-smoking, healthier Mahmood!

The 75 lashes article actually referred to Mr. Mansour Al-Nogaidan’s brush with the Saudi religious authorities, not mine! Fortunately however, they seem to have forgotten about the lashes and as far as I know has now had to submit to that barbaric indignation.

Thanks for your wishes though, I’ve just come back from Saudi just 5 minutes ago and haven’t had a chance to listen to the radio. Maybe that’s good news! I’m listening now though and that interview has not come on-air yet.
