I’m not a “fish” person generally (hate all the bones) but that looked V good.

Your VBlog is fun – I’ve seen your face – now I can put a voice to you – neat. And I get to see bits of Bahrain thru your eyes.

All of your video stuff has played without hitch and without any kind of delay to speak of – nice high speed broadband at work 🙂

Best wishes from Luxembourg

The vlog is pretty awesome huh? I love the fish, usually meshwee(grilled) but dont like the leben drink. If you dont like bones try eating fish steaks from larger fish, like tuna, salmon or mahi-mahi.

Still it is YOUR fault… FLIPPER EATER. Just kidding Malik. Mahi Mahi is very good on the grill witha butter/garlic/lemon sauce. Ever try Orange Roughy? I think it is from New Zealand not for sure on that but it is good. Give me a kilo of Gulf Prawns as well and I be one happy camper. If you like fish Malik you would be in HEAVEN at the Fish Market in Manama. Bring you waders as there always seems to be an inch or so of water in the place.

ciao!

I love Mahi-Mahi cooked that way. It is the best. I actually cook it wrapped in foil with sliced lemon and green, yellow and red peppers with it as well. I have thought about visiting Bahrain. I am sort of an archeology nut and I want to explore the burial mounds there. I usually go to Syria when I am in the area for this very reason, but having found about the mounds, this might change for awhile.

Malik if you like Archeology then book your flight NOW. 4000 + years of it is in Bahrain. I could spend days wondering some of the digs that are going on. Now the Old Fort is finished and ready for all to see. Not that you couldn’t go take a look when the restoration was going on but it is just amazing.

Try the Shringar Restaurant if you go.

The National Museum has a few actual burial mounds on display of course they have lots of good stuff to see to but the mounds are worth the trip. Just try to stay away from the place if any schools are there doing a tour. Made that error… once…… Still trying to recover from it.

Now I need a mid afternoon snack with your talk of food.

Insha’Allah. I have to say that my agenda for travels tends to be a bit different than my wife’s. We are planning a trip to Saudi this next spring. We are taking the new baby so we will have to make the family rounds in Jeddah and Makkah. I want to slip away for a few days, at least, to Dubai, maybe to Bahrain. When my wife is able to finish school here we plan to move to somewhere over there. Maybe Saudi, maybe Dubai. I am pushing for Dubai, but my wife wants Saudi. Wait until she gets back there and remembers how much freedom she will loose again and Dubai it is!

Shringar? Indian? Isnt that similar to the name of the capital of Kashmir? I am not huge on curry food. My wife loves it, must be being born in Pakistan that did it to her.

Talking of historical stuff a la Bahrain – When the highway to Zallaq was built – did anyone make any documentation of the old water holes and underground channels which ran parallel to the old road? – When we visited in 2004, these things appear to have dissappeared completely – and nobody seemed to know what on earth we were talking about. They existed 37 years ago – what became of them?
Labannnn!! i miss that…
My wife loves the kind that is carbonated. I avoid it because it takes up too much room. I need all of the room I can get for the lamb, chicken and kofta, not to mention the larges amounts of rice, salata and kunnafa afterwards.

Labannnn!! 🙁 🙁 i miss that… i guess partly cuz it knocks u down into a sweeeet seista 🙂
they have a similar version at indian restaurants here.. they call it Lassi… u can have it either sweet or salted… or mango or strawberry flavored… but doesn’t beat Laban Nada!!!

not a seafood person AT ALLL!! i think i’m actually scared of the bones… tried some prawns, squid… but not fish… i’m so weird.. i’ll only have a chicken breast.. that way i can make sure it’s boneless 🙂

what’s scaring me is that i can sooo easily turn into a vegetarian! my friends laugh at me… i can eat meat/chicken.. as long as no1 reminds me it’s an animal.. i have to block that out temporarily…

Hi Malik – Thanks for the Tuna tip – tried it on the BBQ last night cooked on a bed of chopped onion/garlic/red & green peppers/tomatoes – drizzled with sesame oil and with a good grind of black pepper. Cooked in a metal pan covered with tinfoil first – then later left to get the smoke for a few minutes……. I can still taste the garlic! Wonderful.

Thanks again

You guys are making me hungry over here.
The food is much more appetizing than Windows Media. 😉

zain and hassoun are funny and adorable!

I have to tell you Mahmood, I’m on the other side of the world. And when I was young I wrote a school report about Bahrain, and i remember working very hard on it. When I was all done, i thought, “one day I’d really like to visit Bahrain.” And now, thanks to your videoblog, I am. Are you the first vlogger in your corner of the world? I think this is just amazing and heartening. more more more!

Best,
Chuck
