200,000 publications monitored?

I would have thought that you would need a full-sized army of literate morons to do this mind numbing work, and it must be a “printing error” (let’s give ’em the benefit of the doubt and not call it complete bullshit) as there is no way that I can find to monitor 200,000 yes TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND PUBLICATIONS by the censorship office at the Ministry of Information in Bahrain.

WHY?

TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND? How many people does the Ministry of Information employ in the censorship department to be able to monitor this obscene number of publications?

Let me give the parliament a hint, as they are always looking for ways to improve efficiencies, reduce government expenditure AND improve Bahrain’s international reputation:

CLOSE THE EFFING STINKING HOLE DOWN

For God’s sake put an end to this farce that is called a Ministry of INFORMATION. Or at least be honest with yourselves and demand that it change it’s name to the Ministry of DISINFORMATION.

This is sickening. WHY is government still thinking with a brain that died in the 1960s?

200,000 publications monitored
More than 200,000 publications are processed each month by Bahrain’s censorship authorities. “Every publication or audio-visual product is read, heard of watched in full in co-ordination with other ministry departments,” Information Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar said in response to a question submitted by MP Dr. Isa Al-Mutawa on the ministry’s censorship role.
Gulf Daily News .pdf file

And let us NOT assume that the honourable MP Al-Mutawa has asked the official question in order to get the government to see the error of its ways in censoring any thought that comes into or leaves the island (there are a lot more leaving it at the moment) but in all probability, the respected member cough of parliament probably wants the ministry of disinformation to DO MORE CENSORING!

This at a time when Greece translates more books into its own language than those produced and translated by the whole Arab world.

But then why should we give a damn about this:

“The Greater Middle East region, once the cradle of scientific discovery and learning, has largely failed to keep up with today’s knowledge-oriented world,” the US said in a working paper for the G8 summit. “Arab countries’ output of books represents just 1.1% of the world total.”
Reading between the lines, Brian Whitaker in Guardian Unlimited

If all our governments are worried about is to STOP us developing our faculties and work to assist writers and artists produce their work?

To hell with this shit. Now I know for sure why it is of paramount importance for them to find a way to censor the internet.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

All of the bin Ladens and Zarkawis in this world cannot do anything without the press to back them up.

But a single man with an idea overthrew all of ancient Arabian society and remade it in his own image.

Do you see the danger of words?

Words.. ideas.. they can take the status quo and force it to change.

    Thus, they must be stopped.

I think when they say 200,000 they mean the total number of copies , for example newsweek enter with 50,000 issue , they check 100 sample and they write it off as 50,000 issue checked

normal governemt workers trick , to make it look like they do a lot , they can’t say we check 200 publication , that doesn’t look like a lot

The reason why we have zarkawis and bin ladens is because of people like you and them.,.. that ban COMMON SENSE and freedom… to the point that no one is heard untill they reach a VERY EXTREME point of view… and that is where we’re at.
Because different views and interpritations are banned, thanks to you know who, you have terrorists that decided to blow up anyone that disagreed with them. Democracy? Negotiation? give-and-take? Throw away that bull$#^& im gonna strap on my bomb belt and make them hear me loud and clear.

    200,000 publications monitored?

This sounds like something out of 1984, The Ministry of Information… erasing the bits of history they dislike and rewriting it to suit them, attempting to stop free thought and freedom of expression, it’s sad that they could be so threatened by a few words.

All without the world’s press. I guess you dont need the press as much as you might like to think, especially with the way the web is working now.
