Hundreds die in Iraq in stampede and Bahrain is in the same danger

Close to 800 people died in Iraq today in a stampede which resulted from rumours that a suicide bomber was in their midst. The crowd, estimated in the hundreds of thousands were crossing the Two Imams bridge in Baghdad in a pilgrimage to the mausoleum of Imam Al-Kadhem to commemorate his death.

Shiite processions, which can draw huge crowds, are often targeted by Sunni extremists seeking to trigger sectarian war. Mortar shells had exploded near the shrine compound about two hours before the bridge disaster, killing at least seven people. U.S. Apache helicopters fired at the attackers.

My sincere condolences to the bereaved and their families. A’tham Allah Ajerkum.

The promise of sectarian strife is also looming quite largely in Bahrain. This so far peaceful land which has encompassed varied civilisations throughout its history, is in danger of succumbing to an undeclared civil war if people don’t do something about the mounting hatred between the two main sects of Islam. The trust between both has all but disappeared, especially since an insidious rumour surfaced over the past couple of days that the Shi’a are organising an entity to be called the “House of Shi’a” which will supposedly bring all the Shi’as of Bahrain together to fight and reclaim their rights from the Sunni minority. This rumour was calculated to increase the already deeply intrenched mistrust and rally the Sunna against the Shi’a and vice-versa. Much like what is happening in Iraq.

Another thing came to light yesterday is the appearance of bogus religious proclamations (arabic) in key Shi’a areas playing on the emotions of the naive, unsuspecting Shi’a public, or at least that was the hope of those who are trying their best to start sectarian strife if not for glaring mistakes in the banners’ text, the nonsensical proclamations, and the quick condemnation of these acts by leading Shi’a clerics and thinkers.

It doesn’t take a genius to ascertain who the perpetrators are, and to even possibly pin-point the cowardly source who is financing these acts. These are the very same animals who flew planes into buildings, the very same animals who slaughter hundreds in Iraq while cloaking themselves in Islam, their version of it at least, and the very same cowards who especially in the past couple of months have had a diarrhea of frivolous press releases calling into question the loyalty of the whole Shi’a population of this ancient land.

And to think they are in our parliament and some people actually voted them in, shames me for calling myself Bahraini.

In the end, Mahmood, you will need to drive the Wahhabis out, kill them if they won’t go, because they will never leave you in peace. They are not just enemies of the Shia in Bahrain but everyone who wants a peaceful life in Bahrain, of everyone in the world who wants to live and let live. They are a cancer on mankind.

Sadly M…there may have actually been a suicide bomber in this incident and it is being kept quiet….At least that is what is reported on some of the comments on Iraqi blogs.

Its sad that when you get less dictatorship in the Middle East…sectarian resentments come forward. The Middle East will never lknow peace without the acceptance of pluralism and the tolerance of different beliefs. Underneath it all…Islamists are intolerant totalitarians.

Sadly, its a repeat of Yugoslavia under Tito, another dictator. After he left, all the ethnic resentments erupted full force. Right now, it’s only NATO preventing them from going at each other’s throats again.

Mahmood can you comment on this??

“The Terrorist Katrina is One of the Soldiers of Allah…

“…As I watched the horrible sights of this wondrous storm, I was reminded of the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah [in the compilations] of Al-Bukhari and Abu Daoud. The Hadith says: ‘The wind is of the wind of Allah, it comes from mercy or for the sake of torment. When you see it, do not curse it, [but rather] ask Allah for the good that is in it, and ask Allah for shelter from its evil.’ Afterwards, I was [also] reminded of the words of the Prophet Muhammad: ‘Do not curse the wind, as it is the fruit of Allah’s planning. He who curses something that should not be cursed – the curse will come back to him.’

“When the satellite channels reported on the scope of the terrifying destruction in America [caused by] this wind, I was reminded of the words of [Prophet Muhammad]: ‘The wind sends torment to one group of people, and sends mercy to others.’ I do not think – and only Allah [really] knows – that this wind, which completely wiped out American cities in these days, is a wind of mercy and blessing. It is almost certain that this is a wind of torment and evil that Allah has sent to this American empire. Out of my absolute belief in the truth of the words of the Prophet Muhammad, this wind is the fruit of the planning [of Allah], as is stated in the text of the Hadith of the Prophet.

“But I began to ask myself: Doesn’t this country [the U.S.] claim to aspire to establish justice, freedom, and equality amongst the people? Isn’t this country claiming that everything it did in Afghanistan and Iraq was for truth and justice? How can it be that these American claims are untrue, when we see how good prevails in the streets of Afghanistan, and how it became an oasis of security with America’s entrance there? How can these American claims in the matter of Iraq be untrue, when we see that Iraq has become the most tranquil and secure country in the world?

“But how strange it is that after all the tremendous American achievements for the sake of humanity, these mighty winds come and evilly rip [America’s] cities to shreds? Have the storms have joined the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization?

Kuwait That country we sacrificed our blood and treasure to rescue.

With all the Muslims killed during the tsunami, the 800 recently killed on a bridge during a panic in Iraq, and the at least semi-annual trampling of hundreds during the Haj at Mecca, maybe this dude and other Muslims need to rethink their “Soldier of Allah” ideas. Seems the Soldiers of Allah might be pissed at the Muslims

What’s with these idiots? Are muslims just the dumbest people on earth or what? The other day I read a story where as these idiots were being buried alive in a landslide they were screaming “Ala Akbar or God is Great! What the hell is wrong with these people? But I ask an even BIGGER question, and that question is… What the hell is wrong with any people who believe in a God or Gods? Do they REALLY believe there’s some magical person in the sky who’s directing everything, and if so where the hell was he when 350 of these boneheads were being trampled to death??!! What’s wrong with people? HELLO STUPID PEOPLE, ARE YOU LISTENING? THERE IS NO GOD FOOLS!

    Dear anonymous,
The arguement about belief is best left to those who experience the wonderment of the supreme being. Tracing our human existance, it is wise to ascertain that we are the product of someone or something spectacular. As the blood trickles down through our veins we must question how all those organs know to work together and assist us in living.

It is sad that many people share your belief until they find themselves pressed into a formidable situation or ill health and then pray for God – the same being they denounced, to help them. This usuary would not be tolerated if God were human. We are easy to judge each other and cut people off either for their views, or for their religious beliefs. I am so Thankful that the God I serve does not treat us the way we deserve to be treated.

God is merciful, even in calamity. Humans are impatient a product of their own desires to move forward. God did not cause the error in judgement, human greed did. Our greed accounts for more ills in the world than we think.
