New benchmark for Bahrain’s economy

Bahrain’s first Competitiveness Report was released yesterday by the newly formed Bahrain National Competitiveness Council (BNCC).

The report highlights areas affecting Bahrain’s competitiveness ranking against other regional and international countries and examines in detail the factors driving its macro-economic competitive situation.

It also highlights how oil-dependent revenue stimulates economic activity, but at the same time distorts the relative process of labour, land, energy, utilities and key services.
