Shaikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, RIP
The BBC and CNN report that Shaikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, the ruler of Kuwait for the past 30 years has died. May Allah grant him and the Kuwaiti people peace and tranquility.
An Arab man's attempt at bridging the cultural gap and trying to make a difference. Failing a lot. Succeeding once in a while.

Our heartfelt condolences to Kuwait
Is it just me or does there seem to be an awful lot of deaths occuring in the ruling families of the ME over the last few months? If I were a cynic – and I am – I would be expecting the fundamentalists to be using them to further their cause:
See! They’re evil and they were struck down for their sins. Re: Our heartfelt condolences to Kuwait
It certainly looks like bad luck, but it actually isn’t as this is the time of “changing of the guards” if you like. King Fahad was 82, Shaikh Jaber was in his late 70s, Shaikh Zayed of the Emirates the same. The oddity unfortunately was Shaikh Maktoum of Dubai who was only 62.
Bahrain has announced (arabic) 40 days of official mourning in Shaikh Jaber’s honour and 3 days where all government is shut as an observance and respect.
Re: Our heartfelt condolences to Kuwait
What’s your company’s policy Tawfiq? Surely this decision to shut or stay open should be left to the individual private companies rather than have the government impose on us its holidays, especially of this sort?

I’m v. sorry to hear about the Kuwaiti leader’s death. The problem is that every time I turn up for work there’s another reason for a day off. Its now ridiculous.

I offer my condolences.
Is Kuwait ruled by a royal family too? I know that Saudi Arabia is but is Kuwait too? I REALLY need to do my research on the Middle East! The place is beginning to sound like Europe just before WWI.
Okay, he’s dead. Will some other relative step into a vacated royal position and inherit expensive things paid for by taxpayers? Is that the way things work over there?
And they’re in control of the church too. Kinda’ reminds me of King Henry VIII. Unfortunately, this is the 21st century and Henry VIII lived centuries ago. And then there is that think about WWI. It sure tore Europe apart. Imagine that soon in the Middle East…with nuclear weapons.
Once again, my condolences.

I am saddened by the passing of the leader of Kuwait. God rest his soul and provide a good replacement leader.
Aman
The fight in the world for Order, Peace and Good Government will separate church and state, they can then work in harmony.
If there is no separation,,, BOOM!
“Dr Alnaser said even if all the above measures were taken, they still wouldn’t be effective if Iran’s nuclear power programme continues and there is a disaster similar to the Chernobyl power plant in the 1980s.
“We are not prepared for a problem if radioactive air comes to us. We must have a real thinktank. What benefit is there if we do reclamation, take other measures and then we have a nuclear crisis?” GDN

My brother’s flight out of Kuwait was delayed in order to show respect. I heard he was a good leader, so if that’s the case I hope there will be many more like him in the future of Kuwait.
