Yeah, I saw this yesterday when I tried using Google… pretty cool. BUT… the drawback is that when you go to use the Google search engine, you are not given a choice as to whether to use the English version or Arabic version, and I found it to be a pain in the arse when trying to get out of the Arabic version yesterday (since I don’t write Arabic). I’ve noticed the same on other websites… sometimes it takes you to the int’l version w/out asking and then it’s almost impossible to get to the U.S. version. I find it to be rather annoying!
change your language setting in either Windows or your browser, then clear the cache and cookies, you should then be able to choose which Google to use.
The Google Bahrain page does give you the choice of whether your search should default to Arabic or English, as you can see from the screen-grab above.
Google’s new China search engine not only censors many Web sites that question the Chinese government, but it goes further than similar services from Microsoft and Yahoo by targeting teen pregnancy, homosexuality, dating, beer and jokes.
Censoring politics is bad enough, but censoring results about beer is unacceptable!
So my friends… I hope Google Bahrain will not censor blogs, Cartoons and Danish companies 😉
I see what you mean about the third option… but that’s maybe down to the very very small websites actually hosted IN Bahrain, thanks to Batelco’s stupidity.
The third option..they must include every Bahraini site ..not neccesary hosted in Bahrain ..( in US , Canada or The Moon ..whatever !)
You know , Only Goverment & Banks sites hosted in bahrain (with a few other sites) !

oddly enough bahrain google shows up on navy computers on base… I’d assumed we had a set of US IP’s, but apparenlty not.
Funny
The funny/ugly thing about Google news is, it is totally pro-governmental. I did not get any news regarding any political activity…
change your settings to the above and say goodbye google.com.bh (the most annoying search tool in the world)

I’m not bahraini but really enjoying Bahrain. i just found (a little bit late i presume) this information that most of cost places are forbidden and no plan is in place to change that. That was the region to shut down google earth @ bahrain last year.

C-Net (http://news.com.com/What+Google+censors+in+China/2100-1030_3-6031727.html) made a more thorough comparison between the three US search engines Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.

First of all ..sorry for my poor English ( i won’t repeat this in every comment 😛 )
By Looking to google.com.sa and so google.com.eg .. there is 3 search methods
1- on the web
2- Arabic Pages only
3- SA’s or EG’s Pages only
We miss the third on google.com.bh !
All users from IPs 217.17.xx or 193.188.xx or 82.194.xx .. are automatically redirected to Bahrain’s Google ..!
p.s. : Mahmood , Google looks great from the Mac 😀
Like everything on the Mac Ali!
