Marco did a quite extensive degree research about blogging in the Gulf. He decided to take Chan’ad‘s, Saudi Jeans, Farah’s Swaleef and my blog as well as a few others for his case studies.
His study is very well researched and thought out. I hope his uni will translate & publish it as a good reference.
His research is published (at the moment) at http://www.cyberantropologia.tk
Marco’s father – Roberto – is one of my friends and has been working in Bahrain for the last year or so, and hopefully will stay for quite a number of years yet!

its a paper for his anthropology class … and its in Italian.
Other than featuring your blog maybe, could you share with us why is it so significant for everyone to know about it?
Blogging is increasingly taken as a “real” media outlet, rather than an alternative, poor cousin that should just be tolerated by big media or traditional journalists. Blogging is now considered as much more than complimentary to traditional journalism, especially today as the BBC has announced the complete redesign of its websites to feature blogging content and direct reader input (citizen journalists?) as main components of its redesign. Add to that the fact that other major news outlets like Reuters tapping blogs for content too, and you would arrive at the conclusion that blogging is no longer just a phenomenon, especially as universities now even not only accept research into this media, but also encourage it.
My decision to feature Marco’s study was a combination of all the above, as well as a note of appreciation for his work.
The site is blocked! (I got to it thru the http address, however
Jinny, I just checked and it works (you’re talking about Marco’s site right?) Are you connecting from Bahrain?
No, from the UAE
Ah, maybe you need to take your laptop to Madinat Jumaira and surf the net from there as they don’t have anything blocked!
Bloody Itisalat… so much for a “progressive working environment”…
Thanks, I’m really glad to be inserted in your blog!
Now I’m inside the blogosphere!
Marco
Before the governments, now the universities, soon the media… , blogging has become more than a phenomenon: it’s credible and stable, the only vehicle for universal knowledge and people’s link. Thanks for such “globalization”.
The research is available also at:

You can try this second link.

Great….. Europe should be our model. Thanks for raising interest over there
