It is quite surprising that some people in the various villages of Bahrain still depend on donkeys for their transport and work them too. This man is collecting the grass-cuttings off the local park presumably to use as donkey/cow feed.
Have a nice Friday… I’m just chillin’ today waiting for 6pm to watch the first of the two decisive matches in the World Cup!

Looks like modern village !
where was this nice photo taken ?
p.s. : Al-Humar -or- Al-Homar, not Al-Hammar .. i think !
Almania will take it. V. Likely w/ the home support and their performance so far. Besides, I don’t like Argentin.
PS Ali7 – M7mood was talking about the donkey rider, not the donkey.
I wonder if this is the same guy and donkey I have seen year in and year out? I always enjoy seeing the contrast between old and new. There is something beautiful about the basic simplicity of a donkey pulling a cart. Have a GREAT Friday everyone!
Ali7, it’s الØÂمّار just as nasrawi pointed out.
The picture was taken in Zinj at the newly renovated village park.
Mahmood, what will be the result of the match Portugal-England?
no idea, haven’t seen Porto play this time, but from what I’ve read they’re strong, so it should be a matched game. I do hope however that it will not be as the disappointing Argentina-Germany which I have just watched the first half; they’ve got nothing special to show for reaching this stage. Pretty even, even with the possession mostly to Argentina, but neither side can translate their play to a goal yet.
Let’s see what the second half brings.
It’s so good to see this photo Mahmood. My Dad took some wonderful colour slides of Bahrain when he lived here in 1961/2/3 including the rubbish collector with his donkey car, sweetwater being delivery by donkey and the grocery man with a glass display case pulled by donkey.
Good to see they’re still being used!
That is a smashing photo! I wish we had some donkeys over here – the council comes round and cuts the grass verges, and leaves the grass there to rot because it would cost too much to gather it up and dispose of it!
It’s messy, unsightly and inefficient.
I never thought of that being so, too, there! Very much like Mukalla!
I like this photo. There’s an old man that comes around our neighborhood w/ a donkey. He has a sign on the back of his cart that says “baby on board”… it’s hand written.
The only thing I don’t like about the donkey use is that I see a lot of young boys abusing them terribly at times – this is difficult to watch. I wish the young were taught an appreciation for animals and taught not to abuse animals.
LoL Baby on Board… hahaha, ingenious!
