Sponsors needed!

We need to kick up the Just Bahraini campaign a bit, and judging by the speed that the 200 buttons have almost disappeared, we need to make thousands of buttons, t-shirts, mugs, bracelets, and whatever other gifts that we decide to ultimately do. Therefore, we need corporate/individual sponsors to pay for these things. The compensation is that your company will be seen as anti-discrimination, anti-sectarian and a good player in the market. Your company’s name can be represented in some way on the product. If interested, please email me and let’s talk.

    Did you read “Reem Khalifa’s” column at AlWasat newspaper today? You should be proud of yourself.

    In my opinion, judging by the amount of excitment and publicity this idea has generated, I say that you take on the initiative and head this project perhaps. Create a paypal [www.paypal.com] accuont to recieve the public contributions (I will be the first to transfer you money) and I hope many other individuals and corporations will follow. To ease the workload, other bloggers and websites should also take an initiative, the least being advertisign for this campaign.

    I have a lot more ideas for the campaign, but I’m so excited, I can’t even think straight!! 😛

    The bottom line is, if this idea is properly sponserd, planned, and executed, it will go down history as a very successful unity project unifying Bahrainis from all sects like never before. It, with no overexaggeration, can be similar to the orange revolution seen in Ukraine or in Kuwait, and I can say that you can be the right man to lead this campaign Mahmood

    That is a good and hopefully fruitful campaign. I wish for a change we see new faces, from all groups, not only a particular group…

    I am sure if you speak with the interior minister, they will surely support your campaign. As it is already adapting anti-discrimination and anti-sectarian policies, and surely it is good player in the political market. Do not forget that all members will vote by force! otherwise, you know the rest…

    I would like to send emails of this campaign to my friends and everyone I can think of who needs to read about this. Maybe if you can make a nice html kinda thing like a newsletter type and I would gladdly send it to everyone I know. Otherwise I would have to resort to boring text =(

    What about selling them as well as accept a donation? That way u will guarantee people will be more up for it I think. 100 fils is easier to part with than a few dinars.

    You can get free advertising if you call up a few newspapers, magazines and the sort to write an article about it.

    Mahmood I would love to help in any way i can. But please keep in mind im a student at the other end of the world. I would love to see this thing get big.

    Oh and for those of you who were curious, yes toilet does flush clockwise here.

    [ في مدونة محمود اليوسف الالكترونية »محمود دوت تي في« طرحت فكرة أكثر من رائعة في ظل الزوابع والعواصف التي هبت علينا في الفترة الأخيرة.

    الفكرة تكمن في كلمات معبرة وهي »لاشيعي لاسني بس بحريني« وتحمل في خلفيتها علم البحرين بلونيه الأحمر والأبيض. وطبعت هذه العبارات على إشارات توضع على الصدر من طرف القميص او الجاكيت بالإضافة إلى أن هناك النية بعمل ملصقات و«تي– شيرت« لذلك بحسب ماورد في المدونة.
    ويقول اليوسف انه ينوي نشر هذه الفكرة الوطنية على المستوى الالكتروني لتطبق فيما بعد على ارض الواقع ومن خلال منتجات مختلفة (مأكولات ومشروبات ومواد استهلاكية) تعبيرا لرفض آفة الطائفية، بحيث يحمل كل بحريني يحب وطنه هذا الشعار بكل فخر وكبرياء امام الجميع، ولنقول لكل من يعبث ببلادنا اننا ضد الطائفية واننا على استعداد لمواجهتها بالقول والعمل.
    لعل ما شهدناه في الفترة الماضية انما كان بسبب ابتعادنا جميعا عن ابتكار اساليب تقرب النفوس وتبعد الاحقاد، وتركنا الامر لبعض العابثين، من أمثال الشخص الذي يدعي انه أكاديمي، ولكنه يكتب استراتيجيات لاهلاك المجتمع، وهو لايهمه ذلك مادام قد امتلأت جيوبه وجيوب من معه بالمال مقابل ذلك.
    اننا أهل البحرين، ونحن الوحيدون الذين سنحافظ على كرامتنا ونبعد بلدنا عن الأدعياء الذين حلوا علينا بأخلاقهم البعيدة عن القيم وخدعوا البعض وزينوا لهم سياسات التفريق بين فئات المجتمع الذي عاش ويعيش وسيعيش مع بعضه مسالما ومتفاهما.
    ان فكرة اليوسف التي طرحها في مدونته تستحق كل المساندة لانها جاءت من بحريني محب لوطنه، وهي فكرة تختلف عن تلك الافكار المستوردة من اماكن غريبة عن ثقافتنا، وحبذا لو ان الجميع يشارك في مثل هذه الابداعات التي توحد المواطنين، وبذلك ننتصر على الحقد المستورد.

    Anon what is to be done about them? As far as freedom of speech goes, they have as much right to talk as we do. But as far as their sediciousness, well, the law can have a look at what they discuss and if there is a legal case that could be levied on them, then so be it.

    As far as I’m concerned however, the only thing I will do is send them a couple of buttons. But obviously as they don’t want to expose who they actually are, I can’t. The only information I have about them is:

    Hi Mahmood,

    Such a campaign is so significant to Bahrain and potentially the region (and elsewhere) in these days when sectarianism is exploited by the ‘divide and rule merchants’. Imagine, Just Bahraini, Just Iraqi, Just British etc ad nauseum. I think if it gathers momentum that the international media would be very interested in covering this as a positive Mid-east story. Well done on getting the ball rolling.

    The only way at the moment unfortunately is sending over a cheque in my name drawn on a Bahraini bank, or a demand draft. The other way is to email me or call me or fax me your credit card details and I’ll charge it with the amount that you desire to contribute. The charge on your card will show “GBPS” (Gulf Broadcast & Professional Systems) which is my company.

    Or drop by the office, have a cup of chai and a chat and give me your contribution and get a receipt for it if you like.

    I think that to be fair you should have aternated it ….one button says no shi’i no sunni and the other should say no sunni no shi’i to be fair !

    you also could have made it a regional campaign by using the slogan No Shi’i, No Sunni just Muslim…appeals to all factions of the community in Bahrain and in the Muslim world…

    Unfortunately Roger Paypal does not work for donations for Bahrain, so the only way to donate is to follow one of the alternate routes.

    As to the buttons, here are some places where you can pick a button up, though call first as supplies might have run out. We’re awaiting a big shipment within the next couple of weeks.
