I’m a definite fan of Paul Potts. I don’t go for these ‘Idol’-like shows, I don’t bother with them at all actually unless chance puts me in front of a television with that sort of show is insisted upon by the kids. This one; however, was brought to my attention by my friend Sofyan while I was waiting for my MacBook to get fixed! (You don’t just get excellent coffee while you wait for your Mac to get fixed, you also get treated to good friendly company! okay, I’ll stop! But don’t blame me I do like the guy 😉)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. I certainly will buy his CD when it comes out.

I don’t know why, but every time I see this clip I start crying. It’s not just the beauty of the music because I’ve heard Pav sing this and it doesnt have the same effect. I think it’s because it’s coming from such an ordinary man who is being mocked by people who think they’re better than him because they’re actors, talent show judges etc and he’s just a ordinary Joe. Then he opens his mouth and has the last laugh!
Same here ! I got emotional watching this.
Did you see the look on Simon’s face ? Priceless. Hope he wins it
What do you know ! He actually won it ! Will definitely be buying his album !
The only reason i enjoyed his singing, is because he sung from deep inside his heart, with emotion, and bottomless passion. The expressions on his face also help in winning your heart. He looks sad as he sings, and sings with soul.
A true talent this man possesses.
How about that — everybody in agreement… for all the right reasons…
Not much of a fan of opera, i watched the show on/off just for the sarcastic remarks of the judges, especially Simon Cowell. When I heard Paul Potts, it’s that honest look in his face, confidence, and he’s a nobody who has given it all he has.
Trust me.. I had to watch the clip a few times, and he is inspiring and gives me that hope that you can do and be anything you want to.
He has a future ahead of him, and this is just the begining.
Thanks Mahmood, I was actually feeling stressed out yesterday, watch the video has changed me and make me see the other side. Thanks again.
Paul’s life has definitely changed for the better. Thanks to the show he’s gone from a mobile phone salesman to a $1M recording contract (with Simon) and is currently doing the rounds of USA talk shows. Good luck to him.
Sniffle…sniffle….what a powerful performance. 😥 Clearly he wasn’t what any of us expected…sniffle. I think it was the look of relief and disbelief on the guy’s face when he was done singing and the music was building…..sniffle….sniffle. I just don’t think he…..sniffle….sniffle……realized the power of his humbleness, the intensity of his feelings and the quality of his voice….sniffle….sniffle. 😥 Thanks, Mahmood. 😥
One thing that annoyed me about Paul’s “humbleness” was the statement that when he is singing it stops him feeling insignificant!! I say annoyed, rather than sympathetic, because no-one, NO-ONE, is insignificant. OK, they may not hold down a high-powered job, or make a major contribution to society, but we all have our place and we all have a purpose on this planet.
Maybe it’s a sign of arrogance on my part, but I was shocked that anyone could say that and wondered if he was just laying it on a bit thick for the sympathy vote. If he truly believes it, his parents should be slapped.
Another scene that had a similar effect on me was Bianca on America got talent.
Mahmood, I strongly suggest searching ‘bianca ryan’ on you tube, please do.
I’d post a link if it wasn’t for the fact that I’m surfing on a Wii.
Let me know what you think.
Oh man, another Wii-er! I wonder if PlugIns got them in Bahrain yet.. better call and check!
Thanks for the Bianca Ryan suggestion, I’d look her up had Batelco not reduced my speed due to me reaching their “generous” unlimited-limited bandwidth over a couple of weeks ago!
Never buy stuff in Bahrain Mahmood.
Unlucky stores used to sell Wii’s for BD 300. Now they sell them for 279 or 269.
Just pop up to Rashid mall in Khobar, just as far as anywhere in Bahrain, and you can get it for BD 180. Even the games there cost BD 20-27 While Unlucky stores sells them for BD 35-39.
I hate ripoffs.
Anyway, Since I am on my sturdy and ailing Dell, here is the link to Bianca Ryan:

She was 11 at the day almost a full year back (28/06/06)
Finally a glorious voice soaring to great heights, he untrained, sounds better than Pavarotti in his younger days. His humility
a great asset. He has got it all and the best of luck to him.

THIS IS AMAZING a eleven year old girl!!!
Marvellous, absolutely marvellous. A natural.
Forget Madonna.
Wow… just watched it… simply WOW!
I know!
She was quickly signed up by a record company and released a nice album of cover tracks. For a trained ear, you can tell she’s amature. But for an 11 YO, she’ll go places.
Thanks for your suggestion RedBelt, Arif is a proud owner of a (Japanese model!) Wii which we picked up last night from Tokyo Games in Al-Rashid Mall for BD185!
Congrats.
Are the instructions in Japanese or English?
I don’t think there are many Jap versions here and I wouldn’t recommend it, most games here are US versions. Check it up.
And congrats again, let me know your thoughts on the gadget. Enjoy.
The unit’s menus are in Japanese, but the unit itself has been “badged” and can (apparently) play anything. We tried that feature and so far it’s good!
