I’ve been video talking on my Samsung jet for a while now. This strategy is clever but dishonest. Why is Apple claiming to own 4G? From what I’ve seen of Android, it kicks ass.

It’s not 4G, the operating system is called iOS4, the iOS part they licensed (the name) from CISCO. The iPhone itself is called “iPhone 4”

Yes, I totally agree. Apple are fantastic as spin doctors, almost all the technologies they’ve released with this device are already available – and have been available – on most other devices. However, the operating system they run under makes them really shine.

I’ve not seen the Android other than for a cursory glance, so I’ll hold my judgement.

To me, having the ability to just connect it to my Mac and synchronize everything (not just contacts, but pictures, address books, email accounts, etc) makes this a very worthwhile device to have with the least amount of headaches.

A nice display and smooth interface do not a paradigm shift make, guys.

Oh yes. I use it on a daily basis almost and have installed the applications that I regularly use. I’ve even started using it as my main presentation machine and attach it to projectors using the VGA adapter. It’s brilliant!

I don’t think it’s going to take very long for them to appear in the grey market here. Though they will use this window of availability to hike up the price appreciably, if previous experiences are anything to go by.

I assume We’d have to wait until they are available in Europe, so we can get factory unlocked phones. Is this a fair assesment? I haven’t been on the island for previous iPhone releases.

Yes, this is true. I know that it’s unlocked in the UK but only available for sale with a contract. I still need confirmation of that as I heard that if you pick one up from an Apple store then they would sell it without one.

France is supposed to be unlocked. Not sure if they would sell it without the contract.

Italy (the usual prime market to get them from as it is illegal to restrict sales of iPhones there) has been skipped for the first release wave.
