I lost the tag for these beauties but they’re doing very well in pots and in the gardens at home and the office.

Have a wonderful weekend, and if you do know what these are, please share!

Morning Glory

Morning Glory is very pervasive and takes over everything in its path. We planted this along with 3 other types of creepers on the pool area wall and it looks really lovely especially in the morning.

Have a wonderful weekend my friends.

Aloe Vera Pokers

Aloe Vera Pokers

Aloe Vera Pokers, originally uploaded by malyousif.

I planted many aloe veras by the old frangipani last year, I’m reaping the rewards this year as they all flowered and the scene is gorgeous in that area. The pokers themselves are enough I think. Pretty happy!

I wish you a continued peaceful long weekend and a happy new Hijri year.

R.I.P. Gnasher – a kinder friend you will never find

Gnasher, a good friend for 12 years. Passed away on Friday 11 Dec 2009. May he rest in peace.
Gnasher, a good friend for 12 years. Passed away on Friday 11 Dec 2009. May he rest in peace.

It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to the kindest dog I have ever known.

We were blessed to have known Gnasher for about 12 years. He passed away peacefully in my arms last Friday morning. I couldn’t announce it earlier because we wanted to tell our daughters first.

I shall always remember him with fondness, and don’t think that any other dog will ever fill the huge void he has left behind. We are all saddened by his passing, but really do appreciate the time he has spent with us.

Rest in peace my friend. I shall miss you.

A wet garden

The garden this morning

The garden this morning, originally uploaded by malyousif.

The garden has been soaked with rain the past few days. The plants seem to be happy enough with it (didn’t switch off the irrigation yet, rain is still unpredictable) but the very best thing about having sustained rain like this is the thorough washing of all the plants. Now we can see the brilliant greens, reds, pinks and all the lovely textures.

I love this time of year!

The Datura is full of flowers

Posted on

Happy Friday my friends.

We came home from Rome early this morning to be greeted with this lovely thing by our front door:

datura

In a space of week, it woke up and produced all of these lovely flowers. It’s quite unfortunate that my gardener decided arbitrarily to chop the thing while we were away last time. I’m nurturing it back with judicious pruning. Hopefully it’ll be okay in a couple of years.
