MGS S01E01 – Mahmood’s Garden Show – LAUNCH!

MGS S01E01 – Mahmood’s Garden Show – LAUNCH!

Posted on

Here’s my first in a forthcoming series of gardening videos I’m personally producing and creating to share with you my trials and successes in my home garden. In this series, “Mahmood’s Garden” I’ll show you how to get colour back into your garden using annuals. Most of those I’ll cultivate from seed, so you’ll accompany me on a journey of gardening from seed to fully grown plant in one season. The planting season starts toward the end of September in Bahrain, this episode, I set the scene and share with you my plans for the coming few weeks and months.

Come along on the journey. And be generous with your comments and feedback. I would appreciate +1s, Likes and Thumbs Up too 😉

By the way, my company (Gulf Broadcast) will coincidentally producing a Garden Makeover show professionally this season too, but the series of videos will be released in Feb/Mar 2015 along with the Bahrain International Garden Show, so through my videos, you might see some behind the scenes action. So please subscribe to my channel so you won’t miss any interesting happenings. Go to http://YouTube.com/Mahmood to subscribe – I cover many more subjects about living in Bahrain and not just gardening, so it should be interesting in its variety.

I hope you enjoy!

Guns

Guns

When the gun debate rages in the States after the killing of 27 people, mostly children, with the prevailing view to limit guns’ availability, in Bahrain the situation seems to have been reversed, with some people not only having easy access to them, but use them to terrorise others while the normally vocal authorities on “terrorism” quite quiet. That of course, leaves much room for interpretation. Are those vigilante terrorists officially condoned? I do hope that something is done about this phenomenon. And fast.

A Moment in My Garden

A quick one minute video of my garden this morning. Hope you enjoy this short tour. With the weather changing, the frogs have returned to the pond. No idea where they were hiding all summer long!

HELP! Creating a Diabetes Awareness Campaign

The Rotary Club of Salmaniya are creating a campaign for diabetes awareness. Part of this campaign will be in the form of video testimonials of people who have been affected by diabetes, both directly or indirectly and how diabetes has impacted their lives. Gulf Broadcast will be producing these videos. We need real people to give personal testimonials about how knowledge of preventing diabetes could have changed their lives. These short testimonials shall be in Arabic. The main message will be diabetes is preventable and bad consequences do not need to happen. Do you know of anyone who could be on camera to help others realize the benefits of early intervention? Someone who is:

  • A young mother who has lost a parent to diabetes before a child was born such that the child will never meet their grandparent?
  • A teenager who may have lost another family member (parent/sibling) to diabetes?
  • A teenager/person in 20s diagnosed with type 2 DM?
  • A person who has lost their sight due to diabetes?
  • An amputee due to diabetes?

If you do, please do contact me by email or fill in the form. We and your community will for ever be in your debt. The first phase of fighting any disease is awareness and your help with this will go a long way to help us help others.

Road trip to Sombrio Beach

Road trip to Sombrio Beach

We love going on road trips while in Canada, or almost anywhere where a road trip can take more than 30 minutes without spanning the whole country 🙂

We decided to go check out a recommended beach on Vancouver Island called Sombrio Beach, about two and a half hours outside of Victoria and we stopped at this location just outside Sooke for a quick bite. The seagulls decided to be our lunch companions so we obliged 🙂

M.Report: Photography Masterclass in NY

M.Report: Photography Masterclass in NY

Looking out of the apartment’s window after Hurricane Irene had passed, I noticed a group of people with a lot of tripods and some photography equipment. That piqued my interest and I thought I’d go and investigate (aka, poke my nose in!) – I’m glad I did! I met the renowned photographer Bryan Peterson (http://ppsop.com) who was teaching photography techniques.

M.Report: endgadget NY meetup vlog

Tech blog endgadget.com held their readers meetup in New York on Aug 25th, 2011 and we were fortunate enough to be holidaying there at the time. Arif and I went to geek out with fellow tech-heads. It was a good opportunity and we both were impressed with various products on show.

Here’s the vlog I created of the event, I hope that it will give you a sense of how vibrant the place was and also see some of the technologies offered:

This is my Bahrain [Audio/Video]

This is my Bahrain [Audio/Video]

A while ago a friend compiled this mix of various Bahrainis reflecting on what makes this place their Bahrain. I was one of those. My words were taken from a short video I’ve done regarding the planned demolition of some ancient burial mounds. I like the result. I hope you like it too:

and this is the film from which the audio was sourced.

Enjoy, and have a wonderful day Bahrain.
