With our parliamentarians falling over each other to turn Bahrain into a theocratic state as they prepare for extended summer holidays, we will be left with a lot of heartache to contend with, while they enjoy 5 whole fully paid months of R&R.
Make no mistake my friends, the issues is NOT about banning alcohol. You would be sorely mistaken if you think it is simply about that issue, it is much bigger than that, it is the concerted effort by them to turn this country into Bahrainistan. One which is blindly and brutally kept in the dark ages while we continue to see countries we so far scoffed surpass us in every single facet of modern existence. The economy which has been nurtured over only the past few years with the billions of dollars of inward investment will dissipate virtually over-night, again, not because of the presence or lack of alcohol, but due to the realisation that this is the first step into the complete dissipation of what is left of personal freedoms by demagogues hell-bent onto robbing us of what God Himself has bestowed upon us.
Will YOU be willing to give up your personal freedoms to them? If you do nothing about this latest studied salvo, then you will have no one to blame but yourself when they take away the next freedom, one which you had taken for granted.
People to them are simple animals who should do as they are told, without reason and without thought. Are you one of those who will submit to their demands? Do you not want to remind them that they are there because of your vote?
Then don’t wait around. Do something to let them know that you object and that your personal freedoms and those of others are sacrosanct and are not available for them to trifle with. Tell them that you understand that if a freedom is taken away from your neighbour today, another might well be taken away from you tomorrow. These are your constitutional rights, not theirs to take away.
Your personal freedoms are guaranteed by the constitution. You give up those rights, then you will have no right to demand that they respect the constitution. Something they ALL swore to defend and protect.
It’s NOT about alcohol. Do something. NOW!

No problem, we need to call on the help of our American friends who have supported and sponsored the Bahraini democracy project. They need to help us identify, target and eliminate these terrorists.
I totally agree on the concern about banning alcohol. Banning alcohol sends out a message that Bahrain is no longer a tolerant and balanced society and is heading on a very slippery downhill slope to isolation. As you stated, it’s NOT about alcohol. It’s about sending out a message to the world that this is the first step to becoming an islamist state (a most unfortunate and worrying term) and you’d better plan removing your investments now.
Osama?! He and his (not so) merry band have successfully pushed back religious understanding and tolerance hundreds of years.

According to this aricle by abdul hadi khalaf. The king did distribute money to the tune of 30000 poor families for the purpose of helping them with housing. In addition the labor minister is changing the laws on sponsorhip to give freedom to laborers from other countries to freely change employers and etc. These are some extremely positive initiatives not found anywhere in the region. In addition to that I am not expert but the shariah may allow for the consumption, production and distribution for alcohol for non-muslims. As far as muslims are concerned whatever they do in the privacy of their homes including sins like drinking and zina is their business. The state does not have the right to intrude. Shariah, however, comes heavlily though on those that do sins in public or in a manner in which there is no doubt due to many witnesses.

The parliament may have some idea about religion having studied in, saudi, qum and najaf etc. However it seems they are getting a crash course in politics, an area of weakness of theirs. In politics to achieve your goals you need to compromise and negotiate. As oppossed to simply issuing a fatwa. Since they knew something is not going to be accepted by the shura council then there is no reason to go all out to push something. Instead they should have proposed a simple “protest resolution” with little fuss and then move on, if they felt strongly on this issue.
I also doubt they really understand the implications of the consitution or have even read and understood it properly.

Why can’t educated people of Bahrain vote for throwing these BrainFARTS out of the office.
I have a right I guess as it is mentioned in the constitution to vote for whom I like, but as soon as the nation started voting there were rumors that if a person doesn’t vote he is not to benefit from some government services or considered less worthy, such as housing or being employed in the government sector an etc… I haven’t voted yet for the following reasons, till now I haven’t found anyone worth my voice in my area.

But some how I like our current parliament it is great entertainment it brings us a great laugh on almost daily basis, it is better than any comedy show.
although I hate Haifa or whatever her name is, but why should we banned people who like her to attend her concert no matter how lame and stupid her song are?
