I just received notice from PayPal that they’re cancelling my account with them! Bastards. They say that Bahrain is not covered yet, and although my record with them has my UK banking details, cards and address, it wasn’t good enough for them as I currently reside in Bahrain. (stop laughing mark!).
Anyway, the only reason I used PayPal was to get donations for a worthy cause. This is how much we collected since I started this thing:
Thanks to all who have contributed to the kitty, I’m going to double the amount and give it away in your name to the orphanage in Bahrain.
I’ve removed the donate button obviously. If I find another safe way to collect money again, I’ll put that up. If you have suggestions, let me know.

If you have a personal account with them, if you upgraded it to premier or business account, they wouldn’t care where you live.

No laughing on this side of the world. I made some donations myself to the cause. Sorry this happened Mahmood. I can’t help but wonder if someone didn’t drop a dime on you.
Bahrain should be an acceptable country for PAYPAL. Not just for donations but for small entrepreneurs as well. It would give them an affordable and viable way to accept CC payments without the hassle of setting up a Merchant Account. (Frankies?) I don’t understand why Bahrain isn’t a Paypal approved country. If there is one country in the GCC that should be it is Bahrain.
If I run across any other methods to help with donations I will pass it along.

Actually to accept one donation of $100 I _had_ to upgrade to business, but still no onion for some reason… their standard response to my questions is that the account is too risky and would refuse to comment further.
