Khalid Mohammed Ali notched the Pro Cars category title in the Rumble In the Desert Drag Race, organised by E K Kanoo in co-operation with Bahrain Drag Racing Club at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
Driving a 1972 Camaro, the 33-year-old driver finished top after fierce competition with seven drivers from Bahrain and other GCC countries, including Abbas Abdulla, another Bahraini who clinched second place in a Nissan ZX. Four drivers had to pull out of the Pro category due to engine burnout and oil leakage problems.
Bahraini drivers also dominated the Street and Super Street categories, cheered by a crowd of over 5,000.
