Manama Dec. 12th, 2004: During the annual FIA Prize Giving Gala held in Monte Carlo, Bahrain International Circuit received the highest possible accolade for its organisation of the 2004 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
At the ceremony hosted by the world governing body of motorsport, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa accepted on behalf of the Kingdom of Bahrain the Race Promoters’ Trophy awarded for the best organised Grand Prix during the year. The trophy, which is given to the Grand Prix that has proved most helpful, in the most difficult conditions, throughout the year, was received by Shaikh Fawaz during an evening where the winners of FIA Championships were recognised for their sporting and organisational prowess.
