Bahrain plan to spot F1 driver

A Bahraini could be driving in the Formula One Championship within 10 years following an ambitious initiative launched yesterday by the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and Bapco.

At a Press conference at the BIC premises in Sakhir, the two companies announced they have come together under the theme ‘Race for Bahrain’ which is a contest aimed at unearthing a talented Bahraini who will compete at international levels with Formula One the ultimate goal.

Organisers expect the competition, which is open to all Bahraini nationals aged 18 to 26, will attract thousands of applicants.

Entry forms will be available at all Bapco fuel stations throughout the Kingdom.
