That’s twice in one week! Well done!

The article doesn’t explain too well what makes M.tv so great, but hopefully the readers will find out when they check out the site for themselves.

    More!

There is no one single thing that make M.tv GREAT. Rather it is a rare combination of people, places and things that makes it tick. Certainly the “host” and “Lordship” himself the GREAT MAHMOODSKI plays a HUGE role, but I think Mahmood would agree that it isn’t a ME ME ME ME thing. There is a certian “Magic” on this blog. At least I feel that way!

    Congratulations, Mahmood!

This is certainly a good thing – is there an Arabic edition too? Perhaps putting a human face on bloggers is just the right way of creating public support to prevent this ‘censorship’ bill from going through.

Nice 1 mahmood, the interview was fun to read, but we knew everything in it already πŸ˜›

  17. mahmood

Re: Fame! via Bahrain This Month

I agree, it has most certainly morphed into its own being and I am privilaged to just administer the site (although it needs very little of that) and even more so to be amongst you all, who are really the essence of this community.

    Long may it continue!

  18. mahmood

Re: Fame! via Bahrain This Month

No there isn’t unfotunately, or maybe there is but the Bahraini arabic magazines/press have not woken up to the phenomenon yet… won’t take them long though but I shudder to think what kind of “spin” they’ld put on it.

  19. mahmood

Re: Fame! via Bahrain This Month

Whoa Khalid, thanks very much man! This sounds like I’m starting a cult! πŸ˜†

Seriously though, I love having this “thing,” I never envisaged that it would morph to what it has become today, and ALL of that is due in very large part to every one who bothered to post, even once, to enrich the conversation, and to attempt to bridge the east/west divide.

    Thanks all.

  20. mahmood

Re: Fame! via Bahrain This Month

    grrrrr!

I’m not a granpa yet. Look if Tom Cruise is MY age and can go out with a lass half his age and HE doesn’t get to be called grandaddy, why should I?

I think I should seriously go out and coddle up to a 27-year-old as well, then you can call me whatever you like! πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

  21. mahmood

Re: Fame! via Bahrain This Month

Ah, but it’s YOUR picture coddling up to the “Bahraini Hugh Heffner” in the very same issue as well, so the competition is if anyone can point it out! page number or a link to the picture would result in a winner!

  22. mahmood

    Re: Bukhoor!

Thanks love I appreciate that. I know what you’re saying though, generally in our societies it seems that the only way up is by destroying someone else’s success, as if there isn’t any room for growth other than that particular tactic.

    Sad really…

  23. mahmood

Re: Fame! via Bahrain This Month

Never mind, you have my picture! So go ahead, BASK in my greatness!

    malik ..

get over it sweetheart. i never said that mahmood doesn’t deserve it. i am saying that because mahmood deserves the credit, and because there are alot of insecure people around, he needs to start protecting himself from their insecurities because it is only a matter of time before they lash out. nothing to do with mahmood. everything to do with the fact that this society doesnt encourage pioneers. sometimes, just surviving takes all your energy. and if u dont beleive me, come and live here for a while.

besides .. please explain the concept of saying allahu akbar?? am not sure i get where the greatness of god comes into it?

and for the record, i am one of mahmood’s biggest fans. in fact, i remember defending his relationship with islam as a moslem on this blog not too long ago.. and if i recall correctly, whose insecurities was lashing out him? errrrm … i dunno…. but, i will give you a hint. it was someone who had issues with mahmood’s definition of islam because they clashed with his own.

malik babes. dont knock the power of insecurity. isecurity makes people afraid. fear leads to anger. anger leads to hate. and ergo .. we have the dark side. or islamic fundamentalism. take ur pick of which label u find less offensive.

i’m gonna call home and have someone save the magazine for me… in the meantime, i’ll just have to make due with the online version!

the more i think of it, the more i’m sure it was the Godfather and not the Grandfather… .. i feel so guilty having everyone call u a Grandaddy!!

    Here’s to u G’Father !!

Anyone have a better proposal for a new nickname…? something more friendly than grandaddy?

That’s brilliant, Mahmood. Now could you please get your behind over here to Britain tonight so we can elect you our Prime Minister and throw out Tony Blair and his slimies? As British Prime Minister, you’ll get a free umbrella-wallah, free sandwiches, a free holiday home in Tuscany, a lapel badge, and the undying devotion of millions.

    I like your suggestion!

Mahmood Corleone Al Yousif aka ”the BLOGFATHER”

The man known for MAKING A BLOG NO ONE CAN REFUSE (to read..)

I couldn’t resist giving Mahmood just a wee bit of Italian blood. Hence the “Corleone”. Just sounded good to me with the BLOGFATHER moniker.

I never claimed that you said he didnt deserve it! I was simply pointing out that I thought he deserved it. Look at the site, look at his work, especially with putting up with me. He deserves kudos. That is all I am saying. Why take it as an opportunity to have a go at me?
everything to do with the fact that this society doesnt encourage pioneers. sometimes, just surviving takes all your energy. and if u dont beleive me, come and live here for a while.
    besides
I have spent a lot of time in the Middle East, months and months. Most of my wife’s family lives there and my wife is a citizen of a GCC country. I am well aware of the situation there, hence my congratulations for Mahmood.
please explain the concept of saying allahu akbar?? am not sure i get where the greatness of god comes into it?
YOU talked about the evil eye did you not? I thought you lived in the Middle East? What would the average Arab, or Muslim for that matter, traditionally do to ward off the evil eye? Exactly what I did, they would invoke God’s name, usually using words like Masha’Allah and Allahu Akbar. You are really unware of this? I have seen this done from Morrocco to Yemen, you are unaware of this?
and for the record, i am one of mahmood’s biggest fans. in fact, i remember defending his relationship with islam as a moslem on this blog not too long ago.. and if i recall correctly, whose insecurities was lashing out him? errrrm … i dunno…. but, i will give you a hint. it was someone who had issues with mahmood’s definition of islam because they clashed with his own.
Again, I do not know where you are getting all of this from my post. I sought to counteract your talk about the evil eye with invoking Gods name, which is tradition in the Middle East and amoungst Muslims. I then said that Mahmood deserved credit. How do you then read into this an attack on Mahmood? I fail to see it. Lay off, read the posts before you have a go at people.
