Cars rev up for the Third Round of Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship

Hundreds of drag racing fans flocked the Bahrain International Circuit yesterday (Wed May 18) to attend the qualifying session of the third round of the Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship.

The event, organized by the Bahrain Drag Racing Club (BDRC), attracted a string of participants from Bahrain and the Gulf Region. A number of Gulf participants drove yesterday morning across the King Fahad Causeway to rev up their engines signaling a challenge to their Bahraini counterparts.

The championship has so far created a huge level of interest throughout the GCC. Dozens of cars took part in the pre-qualifying event, the test and tune held earlier this month. The race is part of a five leg championship to be held throughout the year.

The race will kick off today Thursday May 19 at 7pm and will continue until the late hours. The highly anticipated race will be a fierce one consisting of four categories: Street, Super Street, Pro Street and Pro. Doors will be open at 6pm.

The first round of the Mini Challenge 2005 was also held on the sidelines of the qualifying event. The second round will take place today Thursday.

Tickets for the event are priced at BD5 and hospitality tickets are BD15. Tickets are being sold at the Pitshop, near the BIC entrance from 9am to 1pm, and the ticket sale booths by the BIC entrances from 4pm.
