Coming home at dusk

Green Parrot in Majestic Flight, originally uploaded by malyousif.

They were back to roost at dusk! I’m begining to fall in love with these birds once again, and re-inforce my love for this home.

These pictures are great, and a good time out from some of the heavier issues that fly around here. The only parrots we have in this part of the world are in captivity, and the most colorful bird we have is the cardinal– who congregate with a lot of others to get the tons of seed my wife puts out for them.

    Wonder Of Birds
    —————
We keep our hands above the water
We know that, someday, we will fly away
With all the wonder of birds
With all the wonder of birds

We keep our voices as guarded secrets
    Wait for awhile
    And we will surely sing
With all the wonder of birds
With all the wonder of birds

We make a sky where we may be
We build a home with windows to fly through
    Windows to fly through

We learn to dance with broomstick partners
    Grace will be ours

When we will grow our wings
With all the wonders of birds
With all the wonders of birds

Great pictures Mahmood. Isnt it wonderful how the little things make life so great? When I was young we used to have a parrot that lived in the neighborhood. It must have escaped from its owner, but for years it fired my imagination.

Mahmood, I live across the bridge in Dhahran, and my neighbor has an enourmous square flat bird feeder hanging in a fig tree for these parrots. Every evening there are 4 or 5 of them feeding. She puts apple slices and peanuts on the feeder. Last year we had a nesting pair in a palm tree in our yard. They lived in a hole in the fronds nwear the top. We would watch them come in and out, but we never saw any babies. I hope they come back this year. It’s a small perk of living on this side of the world.
